DISCOVERING THE INVALUABLE TREASURE.

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward." Hebrews 11:24-26 NKJV.

Here we read of the greatness of the faith of Moses, his focus was beyond what he could achieve in this world and instead looked towards heaven. For Moses, he would rather suffer in this world than enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He found pleasure in Christ and looked forward to the reward that is in Him. This was a man who had the opportunities and privileges of life in the royal family, but instead, he chose to associate with God's people. He understood all of the pleasures and treasures of Egypt were only temporary; here this moment, gone the next. You see, when one is helped by God’s Spirit to come in contact with the invaluable treasures of eternal life, which is something greater than the treasures of all the earth put together. There’s no how he would not esteem it greater and choose to remain the son of Pharaoh's daughter rather than suffer reproach with God's people for a season for the sake of Christ.
For Moses, he was conscious of what he wanted out of life, he was resolute about it and went for it with full zest and zeal.
Take time out and ask yourself this question, is the LORD Jesus my treasure?

Let us like Moses make up our minds to ‘esteem the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt’ and take the decision to follow the LORD Jesus all the way, in like manner. Let's choose Christ and look forward to the eternal reward which is far better than anything the world has to offer rather than seeking fleeting pleasures and earthly treasures.

If it has to be, it is up to you.

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, thank You for Your sacrificial death on the Cross at Calvary for me. Help me to remain conscious of my need of You, and esteem You greater than the treasures of the earth.

FURTHER READING:

Hebrews 10:32-34; Matthew 6:21; Hebrews 11:6; 12:2; 13:13; Philippians 3:8.
