THE PILGRIMS GUIDE
SUNDAY JANUARY 18, 2026
DISREGARD THE SCOFFERS.
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"But as at that time the child [of ordinary birth] born according to the flesh persecuted the son who was born according to [the promise and working of] the Spirit, so it is now also." Galatians 4:29 AMP.
A scoffer is someone who jeers, mocks or treats someone or something with contempt or calls out in derision. While making mockery of someone involves laughing at that person in an unkind and cruel way showing contempt specifically as it pertains to one's faith in God.
You're scoffed at when someone laughs at and talks down on you in a way that shows they think you're stupid or silly (especially) for believing in God.
The LORD Jesus was scoffed at in the cause of the trial that led to His crucifixion as it was prophetically written about Him by David. His mockery which happened exactly as prophesied by Isaiah, the prophet, He himself also predicted His mockery and it came to pass.
When God is training you to fit into His purpose for your life, some of those who don't share the same level of faith with you or understand His dealings with you will surely mock you, but just hold on. When God will be done with training you, not only you, but your mockers will be amazed. On the other hand, you should endeavour to restrain yourself as a believer in Christ Jesus from mocking others or God because there are consequences, ‘... If you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.’ (Proverbs 9:12 NIV).
PRAYER BULLETS:
LORD Jesus, engrace me to endure any kind of mockery that comes my way as the result of my faith in You. Help me also not to be a scoffer in any way.
FURTHER READING:
Psalm 22:6-8; Isaiah 50:6; Mark 10:34; Matthew 27:29, 41; Ephesians 4:29. ______________________________________
