*“Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” — Hebrews 13:4*
*Devotional Message*

We have been exploring the subject of honour, and by God’s grace, we conclude this series today. One of the vital areas where honour must be upheld is marriage.

Scripture clearly teaches that marriage is honourable, and the marital bed—that is, the sexual relationship within marriage—is holy and protected by God. Therefore, marriage must be honoured through faithfulness, loyalty, and truthfulness. Any act of adultery is a dishonour, not only to one’s spouse but to God Himself, because marriage is designed to reflect the union between Christ and the Church.

Just as Christ hates sin in order to preserve His union with the Church, husbands and wives must hate sin to keep their marital union pure. This includes walking in love, forgiveness, patience, and mutual respect. The conduct of both husband and wife, and how they relate to one another, can either bring honour to God or dishonour Him.

The Apostle Paul emphasizes this truth by teaching that a husband must render affection to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. He further explains that once married, our bodies no longer belong to us alone, but to our spouse. This divine arrangement removes any excuse for going outside the marriage to commit adultery. One of the clearest ways we honour God in marriage is by keeping it undefiled.

Another essential way to honour God through marriage is by inviting God into the union—praying together, fellowshipping together, and continually seeking His counsel and direction. A marriage built on God as its foundation is like a house built on a rock; when storms, winds, and floods come, it will not be shaken.

When a marriage truly mirrors the relationship between Christ and the Church, God is glorified, and honour is released to His name. Such marriages become testimonies, preaching Christ without words.

*Prayer*

Father, we thank You for the gift of marriage. Help us to honour You through faithfulness, purity, love, and forgiveness in our unions. Teach us to make You the centre of our marriages and to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church. Strengthen every marriage to stand firm and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
