*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: LEVITICUS 13:45–46; JAMES 1:14–15*
*“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” — James 1:14–15*
*Devotional Message*

In the book of Leviticus chapter 13, we see that when a person was examined and found to have leprosy, they were separated from the rest of the community and placed in isolation. This separation was not punishment but protection—to prevent the disease from spreading to others.

Leprosy, in this context, is a powerful picture of sin. Just as leprosy spreads when not contained, sin also spreads when it is tolerated. Scripture teaches us clearly that bad company corrupts good morals, and that is why the Apostle Paul calls believers to “come out from among them and be separate.”

The prophet Isaiah experienced this truth firsthand when he declared, “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips.” His environment influenced his speech, revealing how easily sin can transfer when separation is ignored.

Jesus said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” This teaches us that words are not neutral—they carry spiritual power. Through our words, we either release life or death into the hearts of others. This is why a believer must be careful not to minister while carrying unresolved sin, because what flows out may contaminate others spiritually.

When you examine yourself and recognize struggles such as immorality, lust, fornication, anger, lying, adultery, or any hidden sin, wisdom demands separation—not from God, but unto God. Just as the lepers went to the priest for examination and cleansing, we must run to Jesus, our Great High Priest, in the secret place. There, He cleanses us by His blood and restores us.

Only after cleansing were the lepers allowed to return to the community. In the same way, after God has dealt with us, healed us, and made us whole, we can return to minister to others without spreading spiritual infection.

The Apostle James reminds us that desire gives birth to sin, and sin, if left untreated, gives birth to death. Therefore, the moment unholy desire appears, we must immediately run to Jesus. Do not entertain it. Let His blood cleanse the symptoms before they grow into sin and eventually death.

Sin spreads like leprosy—but so does holiness when we live a cleansed and separated life.

*Prayer*

Father, I come before You today and ask that You search my heart. Wherever there is any unclean desire, hidden sin, or spiritual leprosy, cleanse me by the blood of Jesus. Give me grace to separate myself unto You, to walk in holiness, and to be a vessel that releases life and not death to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
