Good morning, brethren.

1. Morning devotional for today.

MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY
FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 2026.
"FOCUS ON WHAT IS ā€˜ABOVE ’"
ā€˜Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.’ Colossians 3:2 NIV

TODAY WE'RE big on the concept of instant gratification and acquiring more stuff. But ā€˜earthly things’ lose their appeal once the bill arrives and the interest on your credit cards starts piling up. When that happens, blessings can turn into curses and rob you of the joy of living. One pastor says: ā€˜Materialism doesn’t satisfy because it’s tyrannical, and human beings were born to be free…We find we don’t own the house—the house owns us. We’re married to a mortgage. We become slaves to gadgets and garments. After they’re purchased, delivered and installed, we enjoy a fleeting sense of pleasure, but they still dominate, dictate and demand, ā€˜ā€˜Press me, polish me, patch me, paint me, prune me, plaster me!’’ We spend our best years and the bulk of our money working for ā€˜ā€˜thingsā€ until…we’ve no time left to pursue life’s really enjoyable vocations: visiting friends, having fun, and going to church…no time to do good deeds, see places, or visit the people who give us the greatest inner joy. Paul says, ā€˜ā€˜Godliness with contentment is great gain’' (1 Timothy 6:6 NIV). And to experience that contentment you need to count your blessings every day and thank the One who made them all possible.’ Jon Walker writes: ā€˜Assume there’s an imaginary line dividing what you can see from what you can’t see—the temporal from the eternal. Our objective in Jesus is to look upon the things ā€˜ā€˜aboveā€, so we can understand that what we see and feel is not a full and accurate measurement of God’s reality…people are eternal beings, and decisions that seem insignificant now, when seen in the fullness of reality, are of eternal significance.’

2. Evening Prayer for today.

Morning Prayer

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. ā¤ Psalm 19:14

It is not what a man does that determines whether his work is sacred or secular, but why he does it. ā¤ A.W. Tozer

O You who dwell in the heavens, we lift our eyes to You. The morning calls us again to worship You, and we gladly come to Your feet with our praise. It is fitting that we should bring You our hearts' worship. We have been called from death, as it were, for in our sleep we were like the dead. Our waking is a new beginning of life. We give ourselves to You for another day. We dedicate this day to You and want to make it entirely Yours. We want to make it a holy day, without blemish. We don't want to do anything to stain its white page. We want to write on this little page of ours only beautiful things—a record of worthy deeds, faithfulness, kindness, and unselfishness.

But we know that we can only make this day white and worthy with Your help. We are naturally selfish—but may You fill us with Your love so that we will do only loving things today. Preserve us from impatience, from outbursts of temper, from quarrelsomeness, and from all harsh and bitter speech. Help us as a family to live together with affection, bearing with one another, restraining anger and unkind feelings, and showing only thoughtfulness, gentleness, and sweetness of spirit. Help us to make our home a place of love where no sharp or unkind words are spoken, where each person thinks only of the others' happiness. Make our home one where Jesus Himself would be glad to be a constant guest.

Then may our home today be a center of holy influence that spreads light, warmth, and cheer to other homes. There are homes without Your love—without the blessing of Your love revealed and understood. May the influence of our home help to make these homes truer. We ask this in Jesus' precious name. Amen.
