Jonah 4:2 BSB
So he prayed to the Lord, saying, “O Lord, is this not what I said while I was still in my own country? This is why I was so quick to flee toward Tarshish. I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion—One who relents from sending disaster.
Good morning and praise God. I hope you're having a great weekend. Have you ever been angry to God? Sometimes we do because we do not understand the span of His grace and mercy. In the last lesson, met David praying to God to teach him. Indeed looking at David's life, he was a good student in class of God. Imagine having an opportunity to kill someone who has been looking for you to kill you, won't that be simply self defense? It was not so for David, in his life, he had opportunities to kill his enemies starting from King Saul to his own son Absalom but David did not even attempt to do that. It would have been worldly ok but to David it was not because He had been attentive in God's class, in fact, he mourned death of Saul and his wayward son bittery. It was not a ightpretext but with a heart like that of God when a bad person dies. Today we meet another man who's not ready to be close to God who is too good to had people. The name of this man is Jonah . He is doing his best to run from God. Imagine preaching how a city will be destroyed because of their sins as you've been told by God but then on hearing the message the people on the city turn to God and God cancels His wrath against them. Won't it be shameful to you when especially those that did not repent say you were lying! Jona knew so we'll just as he says here that God is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion. This makes me to personally repent when I wrongly judge someone else. In ministry we meet people some of which are not so good and wonder why are they still up held there. When we are so troubled by such , we might not understand God for who He is. We may know all about Him but know Him unless we are ready to humble ourselves and obey God in our calling. We must disobey our bodies, those emotions, range, thoughts and feelings and subject them to God's will even when we don't really understand it. It is not am easy task but the more we give in to obeying God and following His instructions the easier it becomes to even forgive our worst enemies and open our hearts to share the nature of God with others. Let us learn from Jonah; do not pay that huge cost to run from God for nay reasons but instead humble yourself before Him. God loves you, have a blessed day. Shalom. Shalom.,
