Good morning, brethren.

MORNING TEA.
THE WORD FOR TODAY. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2026
"COURAGE WITH COLD FEET"
‘Benaiah
went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.’
2 Samuel 23:20 NIV

BENAIAH WAS one of King David’s ‘mighty men’. His rĂ©sumĂ© reads: ‘Benaiah
was a valiant fighter
He
went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.’ That’s what is called ‘courage with cold feet’. The greatest courage of all is showing courage in the face of fear. Someone said, ‘Courage is just fear that has said its prayers.’ When you know you have heard clearly from God, you are filled with faith in that moment. It puts steel in your spine. But then, as you move out in faith, you encounter the lions of fear. ‘What if this doesn’t work? What if I fail? What will people say?’ Suddenly you’re having an attack of the ‘what ifs’. Mark Twain said, ‘Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear’. You have to decide whether you’re going to become a warrior - or a worrier. There’s no middle ground. When you’re faced with a health crisis, a family crisis, or a financial crisis, you either choose to stand on God’s Word and fight, or give in to worry. This side of heaven we will never fully understand why bad things happen to good people. But we know that God is good - all the time! So when bad things happen, you will either give in to fear and allow it to destroy your peace and well-being, or you will become a warrior armed with God’s Word and rise up against it. When fear threatens to engulf your mind, stand up with the Psalmist and say, ‘Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You’ (Psalm 56:3 NKJV).

2. Morning Prayer for today.

Morning Prayer

This [is] the day [which] the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. ⏀ Psalm 118:24

The soul needs Sabbath to rest and recharge. ⏀ Wesley L. Duewel

O God, we thank You for this holy Sunday. It is Your day, honored and made sacred by You from the beginning. It was made even more holy by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It is full of holy hopes as it reminds us of the eternal rest in Heaven. We thank You for all that this day means to us in our personal lives and for the blessings it has brought to our home. We thank You for its quiet rest, that we can cease from our weekday toil and spend the day with You.

May You make this a day of real blessing to us. May Heaven’s windows be opened, and may holy blessings be poured upon us. Bless our home life today. May we grow closer together as a family. May our affection be sweetened. Fill our hearts with Your love—then we will love each other as we should. Bless our home conversation. May it be beneficial to us, ministering grace to our hearts, and may it be worthy of the day. Help us to shut out of our lives anything that is worldly or unworthy of You. May Your Spirit fill our home, bringing gentle, enriching influences.

Bless our worship in Your house. Go with us and help us to honor You in the public services. Open our eyes to see wonderful things in Your word. Sanctify the worship and instruction we receive in the sanctuary. May we be so blessed in our hearts by waiting on You that we will be ready for good service all week.

Help us also to be a blessing to others today. Fill us with Your Spirit so that every life that touches ours will receive a blessing from us.

We ask all these Sunday blessings from Your hand, humbly, faithfully, and joyfully, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
