Good evening, brethren.
1. Evening devotion for today.
i. DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)
*DATE:*
THURSDAY 5TH FEBRUARY, 2026
*SUB-THEME:*
THE NATURE OF GOD'S GRACE
*TOPIC:*
LIBERATES
*TEXT:*
ROMANS 6:14-18
14. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
15. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
16. Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?_
17. But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.
18. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
*TOPIC:*
LIBERATES
*THE MESSAGE:*
In this passage, Paul discusses the relationship between grace and the law in the life of a believer. He draws a parallel line between servitude to sin and servitude to righteousness. He illustrates that one must choose who to obey - either sin, which leads to death, or God, leading to righteousness. The grace of God liberates believers from the power of sin and transforms them into servants of righteousness. This inspires holy living as the believer moves from obligation under the law to a life of freedom as a response to God's grace. However, living under the grace of God is not a license to sin. The word of God remains the lamp and compass to our spiritual life and victory over sin. Endeavour to read and obey it.
*REFLECTION:*
In Christ, you are freed.
*PRAYER:*
Father, thank You for the freedom I am enjoying in Christ. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
ISAIAH 26:10
"Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the Lord".
*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
LEVITICUS 11-14.
ii. THE NEW LIFESTYLE
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17
If you are in Christ, the new creation has come, so you have a new lifestyle. The old lifestyle is no longer there: it is dead and should not be a part of you anymore.
No condemnation
It is a great privilege and miracle that your sins are forgiven, and you are able to stand right before the living God. In the old lifestyle you could not, because there was sin and fear.
In this new life your conscience is completely cleansed. Your criminal records have been erased by the blood of Jesus. In the past, I could not appear before God because my old criminal records showed all the bad things I did, but now there is no more sin that condemns me. 'Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus' (Romans 8:1).
Your prosecutor, the evil one, wants to tell you that your old sin still exists, but in Jesus there is no condemnation.
The formula for a happy life
To help you live this new lifestyle, I am giving you a formula consisting of three things. They will help you lead a happy life. If you apply them consistently and daily in your life, they will encourage and strengthen your spiritual life. It is easy to incorporate these three things in your daily life. It should be just as obvious as brushing your teeth or combing your hair every day. It is important to do them daily.
1) Speak to God every day;
2) Allow God to speak to you every day;
3) Talk about God to others every day.
If you want to grow in your new lifestyle, do these three things and they will give you great joy and happiness.

2. Evening Prayer for today.
i. Evening Prayer
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. ⏤ Psalm 55:22
Prayer is the burden of a sigh, the falling of a tear, the upward glancing of an eye when none but God is near. ⏤ Dwight L. Moody
O Lord, You have taught us to cast our burdens upon You, with the assurance that You will sustain us. So, we come to You tonight with our burdens. Life is too hard for us. Our duties are too great for us. We have no power of our own to do the things we need to do. We can’t meet our responsibilities alone. We owe duties to each other in our home, to Your church, to society, to the state, to our friends, and to the world. We are in debt to everyone, even to those in distant lands who don’t know You. Who is sufficient for these things? We can’t carry the burden of our personal responsibilities alone.
We have our burdens of duty, and temptation puts additional burdens on us. The world’s sorrow weighs heavily on our hearts. There are burdens that come from our circumstances. It’s hard for us to be holy. It’s hard for us to keep going day after day, year after year, in the often dreary routines of our tasks. It’s hard for us to endure life’s frictions and irritations—and always keep a sweet spirit. It’s hard for us to be patient with all kinds of people, in all sorts of trying experiences—never losing our temper, never giving in to exasperation.
We have burdens that are hard to carry, daily crosses that are hard to bear. We could never do it without the privilege of casting them upon You. We don’t ask that these burdens be taken off our shoulders, because it may be that we need to bear them for the good of the world or our own growth. But we do ask that You sustain us and help us to walk beneath our load quietly and confidently, leaning on You. Help us, O God, so that we can bear our burdens without fainting, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
