DON'T BE COMPLACENT

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!" 1 Corinthians 10:12 NIV.

Out of His unwavering love for humanity, God sent His only Son to the earth to die in lieu of our salvation, and bring us to have the right standing with Him. The LORD Jesus, willingly and sacrificially paid such a costly price to also enable the Father to have us become joint-heirs with Him in the Father's kingdom. He says, '....Don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.' (Luke 12:32 NLT). Paul, the apostle, writing by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit also emphasises on God's commitment to keep us standing in the faith to the very end (Romans14:4). Much as God is committed to keep us to the very end, it is not a privilege to be taken for granted, the Holy Spirit has been consistent in admonishing us as believers in Christ Jesus to take heed.

The context of our anchor Scripture reminds us that God once saved His people, Israel, had them baptised in His cloud, fed them with heavenly food; yet was angry with many of them and they were overthrown in the wilderness (1 Corinthians 10:1-5), because they were not 'God-conscious,' but lusted after evil things, practised idolatry, fornication, tempted God by doubting His ability to provide for their needs, murmured against Him and their leaders, etc. The Scripture admonishes that 'These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age. If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.'  (1 Corinthians 10:11-12 NLT).

Don't be so naive and self-confident, consider your way and make needful corrections now before it is too late.

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, I'm grateful to You for taking my place in punishment. I receive Your grace to be God-conscious and walk upright in you at all times.

FURTHER READING:

1 Corinthians 10:1-12; 2 Thessalonians 2:15; 2 Timothy 1:12.
