He was stabbed and left for dead for sharing Jesus, yet Hamza continues boldly living out his faith in Jesus.
Raised in a moderate Muslim family, his upbringing was marked by drugs and violence. Night after night, he felt the weight of his actions and would plead for mercy, convinced his sins were too great for God to forgive. The shame he carried became a constant burden.
One day, everything changed. Hamza received a vision of Jesus healing the wounded. He recognized Jesus immediately, and the encounter shook him to his core. Hungry to understand what he had seen, he went to a nearby church, where a minister told him to read the Bible. He bought a copy and began with the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus’s words pierced his heart.
The compassion Jesus showed toward sinners revealed a hope Hamza had never known. He believed. His wife believed. Their oldest son believed—and then the whole immediate family was baptized!
When Hamza shared his new faith with extended family, persecution followed. Eventually Hamza and his wife had to flee with their three young children. But even in a new city, neighbors accused them of apostasy, forcing the family to move from home to home. Hamza was repeatedly fired when employers learned he had become a Christian. His children were mocked at school. Once, after sharing the gospel with a passenger, Hamza was stabbed in the abdomen and leg and spent months recovering.
Hamza’s relatives tracked him down and beat him. After he told his mother about Jesus, she took him to court, accusing him of insulting her. Extended family members are still actively trying to kill Hamza and his entire household.
Hamza currently rents a tuk-tuk to drive to earn money and provide for his family, but the cost of rent means that his profits are small. Because of you, through our Enduring Livelihood Ministry, Hamza recently purchased his own tuk-tuk so he can work safely and independently!
Your support strengthens believers like Hamza as they stand firm in Christ. Please pray that Hamza and his family would stand strong by the power of God’s Spirit as they face daily challenges and fight fear with faith.
