"WALKING IN TRUTH (3)"
ā€˜ā€¦Put on the new self, created to be like God…’ Ephesians 4:24 NIV

IT'S ONE thing to desire truth, but to pursue it you must ā€˜ā€¦Put off your old self…and…put on the new self, created to be like God…’ (vv. 22-24 NIV). One author writes: ā€˜We must be willing to have the conversations our ā€œold selfā€ would have avoided… It’s not easy…it requires heavy doses of humility, and accepting that we’re going to be uncomfortable… The quickest remedy is the most immediate and uncomfortable: ā€œfessing upā€ in the moment. I tried it. At a party some women were discussing involvement in an organisation and I wanted to fit in, so I said I’d tried to get involved but could never break in… I knew I was a liar. I never had any desire to spend my time doing that…committees give me a rash! So, though my intent was good, my delivery was clumsy as I blurted out, ā€œSorry, I just lied to you. I never volunteered there and I’ve no desire to.ā€ Everyone was silent, and I was trying to recall where I left my purse so I could hightail it out of there, when miraculously everyone burst out laughing… No matter how uncomfortable it is…the truth sets us free. Pursuit of truth is like a salmon’s upstream journey; we’re literally going against the current…the world says truth can change based on circumstances, comparisons, new data and levels of experience. But ultimate truth isn’t relative. It can’t be rationalised or customised to fit our moods and preferences. That’s why the status of our heart is so important…when we’re unable or unwilling to think our way into the truth, we must rely on the cultivation of our heart.’

ii. FORGIVEN AT LAST

"Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering." - Mark 5:29

For 12 years, this woman was slowly dying because of bleeding. All those years she tried to find a medicine that would stop this. She went from doctor to doctor. It says that she suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors, and she had spent all her money on this.

A desperate search

Her health went downhill, and she knew that if nothing happened, the bleeding would kill her. Whatever it would cost her, she wanted someone to remove this plague and heal her.

Do you understand this woman's situation? She was desperate for a cure. And so are people today; they are desperately seeking salvation for their souls without Jesus Christ. However, they will never find peace for their souls without Him.

Jesus is the greatest King

One day this woman heard that Jesus of Nazareth, a Man sent by God who healed the sick, would pass by. She thought: '''This is my chance to be healed; if I can only touch His clothes, I will get well.' When she did this, 'her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.'

What Jesus did in the past, He is still able to do today. His power is unchanged! His power to save, redeem and to heal is the same. Touch Him with faith in your heart, just like this woman did. Matthew 21:22 says: 'If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.'

2. Morning Prayer for today.

i. Morning Prayer

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. ā¤ 1 John 3:1

We are all missionaries. Wherever we go we either bring people nearer to Christ or we repel them from Christ. ā¤ Eric Liddell

O God, we are grateful that we are Your children. We are not just Your creations. You made the stars, the birds, and the flowers, but unlike them, You made us in Your own image and gave us immortal souls. We thank You for the special place we hold in creation. Help us to live up to the dignity of being Your children and to live as Your children should.

You created us with a purpose. You have a plan for each of our lives—something You intend for us to be and to do. We want to fulfill Your purpose for us. Help us to accept Your will and to do what You would have us do. As we go out into the world this morning, guide us in the path You have set for us. We want to serve our generation. Show us what You would have us do and enable us to do it.

Fill our hearts with Your love so that we may see the world as You see it. May we look upon others with Your compassion, patience, and a desire to help. Though our efforts may seem small in this vast world, help us to trust that no true work done for You is ever in vain. Help us to make our little corner of the world holier, brighter, sweeter, and happier. Help us to live out Your life in the place You have assigned us, serving those around us. In this way, we shall be a blessing to our small part of the world.

Give us a day filled with Your love and grace, our Father. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
