All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34. that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35. and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. *TOPIC:* STRENGTHENS COMMUNAL LIFE *THE MESSAGE:* Today's text offers a vivid portrayal of the early Christian community, highlighting the principles of grace and communal living. The believers were united in heart and mind, sharing everything they had. Grace was upon them, and they testified to the resurrection of Jesus with great power. The phrase "grace was upon them all" signifies that they thrived not just on rules or moral codes but through the grace of God. This implies that when sinners encounter the grace of God, their lives are transformed and enabled to extend love and support to one another, even in challenging times. Believers today ought to cultivate a community that shares godly values that honours God above personal interests. THE BURDEN OF THE EVIL ONE IS BROKEN "Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name." - Luke 10:17 Many people come across work influenced by the evil one, but they do not believe in the evil one and his demons. The Bible clearly states where evil comes from. Jesus says in John 10:10: 'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.' We read in Luke 10:17-19: 'The seventy-two returned with joy and said: 'Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.' He replied: 'I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.' Jesus says here that He saw Lucifer fall from heaven like lightning. The opponent Lucifer is satan and this means opponent. Jesus also says that the evil one has a kingdom (read Matthew 12:26); we call this kingdom the realm of darkness. From this realm, the evil one fights against the Almighty. Lucifer was at first a mighty and beautiful archangel standing before the throne of God. He became arrogant and wanted to be like God; evil was found in him. He committed a coup and was thrown out of heaven with a third of the angels who chose his side. These angels became his evil spirits. We are exposed to the attacks of those evil spirits because of our sin. When we break God's laws, we will soon experience the burden of the evil one. When we disobey God, for example by being involved in occultism, we are giving the evil one permission to control our lives. His head is crushed However, Jesus came to break the power of the evil one. He has crushed the head of the evil one by His death and resurrection. The close of each day adds to our debt of gratitude for Your mercies and favors. We are not worthy of even the least of all Your goodness and loving-kindness, for we have sinned against You. Yet we hope in Your mercy and cast ourselves on Your grace. We thank You for the protection You have given us this day. We have gone out and come in, and You have kept us safe. You have blessed our home life, keeping us from harm, providing for our needs, and giving us strength for duty. You have blessed us in our work, giving us some measure of success and enabling us to continue in our place and do our tasks. We thank You for the grace You have given us to resist temptation, to bear our daily crosses, and to witness for You among others. Great Shepherd of all Your redeemed people, we ask You to take each member of our family into Your special care tonight. We cannot protect ourselves from the dangers of the darkness, so we entrust our lives to Your gracious keeping. May Your holy angels watch over our home. You who never slumber, keep watch over us. We pray for all our friends and neighbors. They have different needs, and we cannot know what each one requires, but You know. Grant each one what will be the truest blessing. Lead them in right paths. Let none of them be eternally lost. Remember Your church and give it spiritual enrichment. And to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be glory forever.
