John 14:12-14 BSB Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it.
Good morning and praise God. I hope you're having a great day! Have you ever read about the Tower of Babel in the Bible? It is about a people who wanted to create themselves a name by building a tower that reached to Heavens - God confused them and the project failed. This story reminds me on a project I once ventured in along Kisii University road. I was so optimistic that the business will succeed but it failed terribly. I didn't get a single student pass to ask for my services. I felt very bad especially remembering how I had stood there before starting and prayed.I didn't understand it was God's will then that it failed but when I was leaving Kisii to Nairobi many moons later, God made me see it clearly. The whole place was razed down to ashes. The hotel, the timber yard and other business that had been there had been reduced to ashes. You know we keep singing that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and we can extend it to our today's verses. However, we forget an important knowledge about it. Jesus put it clearly '...whoever believes in me will also do the works I am doing...'. What works was Jesus Christ doing? He was living doing God's will! It was not about show off miracles and well thought parables but rather doing the work God the Father had sent Him to do. By the way, Jesus didn't like publicity! In the case of Paul, he was actually jailed when he wrote '...I can do..all..' , again it was not about his personal selfish projects but about being able to do God's work. Would you see God's will in such circumstances like Paul? Mmmh our flesh and blood are weak but He is strong. Therefore you should not expect God to empower you in that your tower of Babel that you're working on but you can expect Him to help you accomplish that calling you've been fearing because it is beyond your own strength! In those Jails Paul wrote many letters we read today and same God is with you today reminding you that when you believe in Him you can ask for anything and He will do it for you. You just need to step out of your own will into God's plan for your life. God's plan for your life is not a mystery, it is made clear to you as you walk with Jesus. Look up to Jesus and He will empower you to do that which is beyond your flesh and blood. God loves you, have a blessed day. Shalom. Shalom.
