*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 46*
*DATE: 15TH FEBRUARY 2026*
*TOPIC: GUARD YOUR WORDS*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: MARK 12:33–34 (NKJV)*
*"And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.""Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.' But after that no one dared question Him."*
*Message*
In our anchor scripture, we see how the Pharisees, Herodians, and scribes sought to trap Jesus with words. They could not destroy Him through accusations or force, so they tried to ensnare Him through clever questioning. Yet our Lord Jesus always perceived their intentions. At times He answered with divine wisdom; at other times, He remained silent. He never spoke carelessly.
This reflects how the enemy operates today. When Satan fails to capture a believer through immorality, arguments, or open sin, he will attempt to use words. Not every question requires your response. Many arguments are carefully designed traps meant to ensnare you.
Some people ask questions not because they desire truth, but because they are looking for validation of what they already want to do. They seek a “legal ground” to justify disobedience, and if you speak loosely, they may use your words as an excuse for their sin.
There are those who will later say, “But you said…” instead of “God said…” They shift responsibility for their choices onto you. As ambassadors of Christ, we must speak only as led by the Spirit of God.
Remember what Jesus taught in Gospel of Matthew 10:16 — “Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” We are in the midst of wolves. The enemy is subtle and cunning.
People may hide their motives behind praise, comparison, or flattery. They may elevate you above others to disarm you. But discernment is necessary. Sometimes the most spiritual response is silence.
Child of God, guard your mouth. Speak when the Spirit permits. Refuse to be a scapegoat for someone’s rebellion. Let your words align strictly with God’s Word so that no accusation can stand against you before the Father.
*Prayer*
Father, in the name of Jesus, grant me discernment and wisdom. Help me to guard my mouth and speak only as led by Your Spirit. Deliver me from traps set through careless conversations and arguments. Make me wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. Let my words bring life and align fully with Your truth. May I never be used as a justification for sin, but as a vessel of righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
