*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 51*
*DATE: 20TH FEBRUARY 2026*
*TOPIC: THE NECESSITY OF TRAINING – 2*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURES: — 1 CORINTHIANS 9:27 NKJV*
*“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection…”*
*Message*
We began looking at the subject of the necessity of training, and we established that it is fundamental for every believer. Without training, we risk bringing shame and reproach to the Kingdom of God and falling into the subtle traps of the enemy and also it hinders our effectiveness and competency in the work of God.
One major area where God trains a man is in the area of character. Before God entrusts a man with influence, authority, or impact, He ensures that the man is dead to self — that the flesh has been subdued. Why? Because Satan is likened to a roaring lion, and a lion feeds on flesh. If the flesh is not crucified, it becomes a loophole for the enemy.
God refines a man until he becomes a worthy vessel.
A clear example is Samson. His downfall was not a lack of calling or power — it was a lack of control over his fleshly appetite. His desire led him into immorality repeatedly. Though God still manifested His power through him for a time, the unchecked appetite eventually entrapped him. The day he realized the Spirit of God had departed from him was the day the consequence of neglected character became evident.
Child of God, if you are not first delivered from the flesh, you may go on a mission to deliver others and end up in bondage yourself.Even the great apostle Paul the Apostle acknowledged that subduing the flesh is a daily battle. Character is not built in a moment — it is forged in the wilderness. It is sustained through prayer, fasting, and immersion in the Word. When the spirit is starved, the flesh awakens. But when the spirit is fed, the flesh is subdued.
As soldiers of Christ, the battle over character is daily. We must embrace the wilderness experiences, for it is through the fire that gold is refined. Training may be uncomfortable, but it prevents future disgrace.
God is more concerned with who you are becoming than what you are doing.
*Prayer*
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for the training process. Refine my character and help me to die to self daily. Strengthen me to overcome the desires of the flesh and close every loophole the enemy may use against me. Teach me to embrace the wilderness and come out refined as pure gold. Make me a worthy vessel fit for Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
