Good morning, brethren.

1. Morning devotion for today.

i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2026.
"THE PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON (4)"
‘
All that I have is yours.’ Luke 15:31 NKJV

THE OLDER brother couldn’t rejoice about his younger brother’s homecoming because he resented it. He said to his father, ‘You threw a party for him, but you’ve never thrown one for me! I served you faithfully for years and you never once acknowledged my service or celebrated my accomplishments’ (vv. 29-30). We learn three things from the older brother. The first is about attitudes. Even though he was invited to the party, his anger kept him away. Why are you angry? You won’t talk to anybody, or forgive anybody. You’re afraid to love anybody, or reach out to anybody, or learn from anybody. You’ve blamed everybody for everything; now you’re blaming God. Don’t let anger lock you out, rob you of blessing, poison your spirit, and destroy your joy. Forgive, celebrate your brother, and walk in fellowship with your heavenly Father. The second is about abundance. ‘
Son
all that I have is yours’ (Luke 15:31 NKJV). Note the word ‘all’. God is a God of abundance, and if He blesses your brother and sister, He will bless you too. Indeed, when He blesses them, He still has more than enough left to bless you. The third is about access to your Father. As a redeemed child of God, you can approach Him at any time, ask for what you need and be confident that He will respond to you. ‘Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need’ (Hebrews 4:16 NIV). You say, ‘When will God answer my prayer?’ He replies, ‘In your time of need.’

ii. ARE YOU HAVING A BAD DAY?

"We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great Treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." - 2 Corinthians 4:7

The apostle Paul talks about the treasure - Jesus - in a fragile clay jar, our body. When you throw a clay vase on the floor, the vase will break. The message of today emphasizes that although Jesus lives in you, you might still face difficulties in life. This is not pleasant. Paul says that it is because the treasure, Jesus, lives in a clay jar. That pottery has been vulnerable and weak since the fall of man. This is why we deal with weaknesses and diseases.

The human body is still earthly and has not been renewed or glorified yet. There is also an incredible number of mental disorders nowadays, not mentioning the physical weaknesses. People suffer from fear, guilt and many other emotional problems. People worry and cannot deal with their problems while they know that Jesus lives in them.

Even though you are a Christian, you can still suffer from such problems and have an unpleasant day. Having bad days does not mean that Jesus does not live in you or that you are backsliding.

The reason for difficulties in life is that the evil one goes around like a roaring lion hunting for a victim to tear apart. Especially if you have made the decision to follow Jesus, the evil one is lurking around to give you a bad day.

The apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 7:5: 'For when we came into Macedonia, we had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn — conflicts on the outside, fears within.'

Can you imagine Paul being afraid? However, he also says in verse 4: 'In all our troubles my joy knows no bounds.' Paul was happy and comforted, despite having a bad day.

2. Morning Prayer for today.

i. Morning Prayer

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. ⏀ John 8:12

Prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan. ⏀ John Bunyan

O God, the source of all truth and grace, You’ve called us out of darkness into Your marvelous light—grant us Your blessing as this new day begins. We ask for Your grace to walk worthy of our high calling, with humility, faith, and hope. May we let our light shine before others so they may see our good works and glorify You.

We ask for grace to perform our tasks diligently, to manage our affairs wisely, to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, and to acknowledge You in all our ways.

Order our steps in Your word and don’t let sin have any power over us.

Give us our daily bread. Provide what we need for this day. Grant us health of body and soundness of mind so that we’re prepared for the duties ahead. Prosper our efforts as long as they align with Your will. If any of our plans don’t fit into Your plan for our lives, we ask that You set them aside, for we don’t want to go against You or do anything that You won’t approve or bless. Restrain us from all excesses, from unwise words, from foolish vanity, and from uncontrolled emotions. Make us thoughtful, serious, and prayerful.

O God, You allowed Your only Son to be tempted by the Evil One so that He could support those who are tempted. We ask You to deliver us from the snares and temptations that constantly surround us, and to strengthen us by Your Spirit so that in all things, we may be more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Amen.
