Evening devotion for today. i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST* (COCIN DEVOTIONAL) *DATE:* SATURDAY 21ST FEBRUARY, 2026 *SUB-THEME:* THE NATURE OF GOD'S GRACE. *TOPIC:* PROVIDENCE (II). *TEXTS:* MATTHEW 5:45; LUKE 6:35 *MATTHEW 5:45* 45. that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. *LUKE 6:35* 35. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. *TOPIC:* PROVIDENCE (II). *THE MESSAGE:* God's providence is impartial and generous. He blesses both the righteous and the unrighteous. He makes the sun rise on both the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. This reveals that God's blessings are not based on merit, but flow from His gracious and loving nature. Jesus calls believers to reflect this divine generosity by loving even their enemies, doing good to all, and giving freely. Recognising God's undeserved kindness should inspire a lifestyle of deep gratitude in His followers. Such gratitude transforms our character, cultivating humility, empathy, and compassion. Even in hard times, we must not lose sight of God's consistent goodness. A thankful heart honours God and reflects Christ, while an ungrateful one cannot truly worship or please Him. WALK THROUGH THE FIRE "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." - John 15:18-19 A Christian's life is not always rosy. God's children often go through storms and trials. When we pray, it sometimes seems like heaven is closed to us, although it is not true. Throughout the ages, the world has hated God's Church. This has never been different, and it will never be. This could also be said about the people of Israel. Israel has always been surrounded by enemies who are after them. These enemies cannot accept that this small country, a dot on the world map, is for the people of Israel. What should the Church do? Jesus says here that the world will not love us. If you walk in the light of God and do not compromise, when you have different norms and values, you will surely be excluded by the world. The world has always hunted down, persecuted and tried to destroy God's Church. What should the Church do? What can the Christian do? Nothing, except to continue our journey to heaven; walk through the fire, walk on the mountains and in the valleys. Once we arrive at our heavenly home, we will be able to rest. Real Christians do not sin as the world does. They keep their backs straight while they obey God's norms, values and laws. The Holy Spirit will help us with this. Why do we live here as strangers? Because our home is not here: the world is not our home. We are in a transit mode. We live in the world but are not of the world. We belong to our Lord and Savior. We have nothing to look for here because we are strangers. We think differently, talk differently, act differently and decide differently than the world. The evil one will continue to attack you. Evening Prayer And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; ⏤ Colossians 3:23 God does nothing except in response to believing prayer. ⏤ John Wesley O God, by the teaching and example of Your dear Son, You have warned us to work Your works while it is day, before the night comes. Give us the spirit of earnestness and diligence so that we may faithfully do the work You’ve given us. Save us from laziness and sloth. Help us to understand the true meaning of life. Enable us by Your grace to do everything with all our might, whatever tasks come our way. We ask Your forgiveness tonight for where we’ve failed to fulfill our duties. Give us grace and wisdom to use every talent You’ve entrusted to us, so that it may bring blessings and good into the world, and honor and glory to Your name. May we be faithful in every relationship in life. In our home, help us to fulfill our duties so that no part of our home life suffers. Help us to be faithful in all our business, social, church, state, and worldly responsibilities. We also ask that You teach us how to make all our work Christian work—business for Jesus. Teach us how to do everything for Your glory. Let not our worldly activities steal our hearts away from our heavenly Master. Don’t let us become worldly while we are busy with the things we must do to provide for our bodies. Make all our work a means of grace to us. May we learn to do everything for Jesus. Then we will find a blessing in every task and duty. Grant that in all things we may honor and glorify You, forgetting ourselves. We ask this in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
