*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:LUKE 10:17 (NKJV)*
*“Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’”*
*Devotional Message*
Yesterday we established that effective witnessing of Jesus requires power and authority, because evangelism is always a confrontation between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. To substitute darkness with light, authority must be exercised.
Jesus did not send His disciples empty-handed. He gave them clear instructions—what to carry, what message to preach, what to do when rejected, what to do when accepted, and the Name to use in their mission: the Name of Jesus. They were not sent to operate in their own names, wisdom, or strategies.
When they followed the instructions precisely, the results were undeniable. They returned rejoicing because demons were cast out and the sick were healed—all in the Name of Jesus. The results were not accidental; they were the outcome of obedience.
Just like in a laboratory practical session, every instruction followed produces a result. However, only those who carefully follow the given instructions produce the intended outcome. The same principle applies in every sphere of life—ministry, business, marriage, career, politics, and the marketplace. Our assignment in every area is to reveal Jesus, and effectiveness flows from obedience.
Jesus is our perfect pattern. He declared, “I do nothing of Myself,” and again, “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do.” Every miracle, every teaching, and every step He took flowed from complete dependence on His Heavenly Father. He never moved independently; He moved in obedience.
Likewise, we are called to total surrender and dependence on God. Our effectiveness does not come from human wisdom, personal strength, or clever strategy. It comes from alignment with God’s will. His instructions are found in His written Word and revealed by the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth.
When we depend fully on Him, follow His instructions, and operate in the authority of His Name, we too will see tangible results that glorify Him.
*Prayer*
Father, I thank You for the authority You have given us in the Name of Jesus. Teach me to follow Your instructions precisely and to depend on You completely. Deliver me from self-reliance and help me to move only as You lead. Let my life and assignment produce results that reveal Jesus and glorify Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
