Good morning, brethren.

THE WORD FOR TODAY. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2026.
"FIND A MENTOR. BECOME A MENTOR."
‘…The works that I do Eunice Gankpe will do also…’ John 14:12 NKJV
JESUS WAS the perfect mentor. He told His disciples, ‘The works that I do Eunice Gankpe will do also.’ If you want to reach the fullness of your God-given potential, ask God for the right mentors. You will always go further with a good mentor coaching and pushing you. Some mentors are given for a short season, others for a lifetime, so you must know the difference. How do you recognise a mentor? In eight ways. The credo of the true mentor is this: 1) I am willing to spend the time it takes to build a close relationship with the learner; 2) I commit myself to believing in the potential of the learner, to telling them the exciting future I see ahead for him or her; to visualising and verbalising the possibilities for their life; 3) I am willing to be vulnerable and transparent before the learner, I’m willing to share not only my strengths and successes, but also my weaknesses, failures, brokenness, and sins; 4) I am willing to be honest yet affirming in confronting the learner’s errors, faults, and areas of immaturity; 5) I am committed to standing by the learner through trials - even trials that are self-inflicted as a result of ignorance or error; 6) I am committed to helping the learner set goals for his or her spiritual life, career, or ministry, and to helping the learner dream his or her dream; 7) I am willing to objectively evaluate the learner’s progress toward his or her goal; 8) Above all, I am committed to faithfully living out everything I teach.

ii. OVERCOME YOUR DEAREST SIN
"Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." - Hebrews 12:1
Sin causes Christians to live like cowards and not in victory. Because of this, God's children are not powerful and cannot act with authority against the power of sin. Either sin has power over us, or we have power over it.
What does sin do?
Most Christians look down on the sins of others, but they often struggle with the same sins and are not able to overcome these. Many were once free from the power of sin, because they overcame their sins and were full of the Holy Spirit. However, now they are a mere shadow of their former selves and bow their heads in shame.
A deep-rooted sin, I call it the 'dearest sin', has stolen their power to overcome. Sin always brings enemies on our path. Sin reduces our ability to resist. We receive this ability through the Holy Spirit, and we need the ability to resist in our fight against the evil one. Sin opens the door to the ruthless and merciless enemy.
It does not matter how good you are, how beautiful you can sing or how talented you are, if you live in sin, you cannot please God. 'If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ' (Romans 8:9). We cannot overlook sins, not even that 'dearest sin.' God hates sin and we must turn our back to sin.
God loves you
Yearn and long for God's holiness. God loves you despite your sin, and He is moved with compassion for you. Accept His loving help, lay your hand on your heart today and reach out to Him. In the name of Jesus, you can overcome your 'dearest sin.'

2. Morning Prayer for today.
i. Morning Prayer
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. ⏤ Romans 12:1
Prayer is the life-breath of the soul. Without it, we grow faint and weary. ⏤ F.B. Meyer
O God, You alone make us dwell in safety. We lie down at night under the shadow of Your wings, and we awake in the morning under the blessing of Your love because You have sustained us. Once again, we thank You for Your care and protection, and for the gift of sleep. We renew our consecration to You this morning, asking for Your permission to live another day for You and with You, doing Your will.
Make the way clear for us, and do not let us stray from the paths of Your commandments. In our worldly affairs, grant us wisdom and grace. May it please You to prosper us in our daily work. May Your Holy Spirit preside over our home. Protect us from harm of every kind. Let us not be careless in our duties or neglectful in our tasks today.
Help us to make the most of every moment of this day. This day is Yours, not ours; it is ours to use for You. May we spend it in such a way that every moment will bear good fruit. In our conversations, may we speak only words that build others up—kind words, true words. Keep us from complaining and grumbling. Teach us the lesson of contentment so that we never murmur or complain.
May it please You to keep us from speaking words that would discourage others. May we always speak words that uplift and encourage, making it easier for others to live. Forbid that we should say anything that would make anyone's burden heavier or their path more difficult. May we live every moment for You, serving You faithfully, and at last may You receive us into Your heavenly glory, through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
