Good evening, brethren.

Evening devotion for today.

i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
THURSDAY 26TH FEBRUARY, 2026

*SUB-THEME:*
THE NATURE OF GOD'S GRACE

*TOPIC:*
USHERS IN THE NEW COVENANT

*TEXT:*
HEBREWS 8:3-7
3. Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer.
4. If He were on earth, He would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law.
5. They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”
6. But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which He is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7. For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.

*TOPIC:*
USHERS IN THE NEW COVENANT

*THE MESSAGE:*
Today's text emphasises the necessity and superiority of Christ's priesthood. In the Old Testament, every High Priest had to offer gifts and sacrifices, implying that Christ, too, must offer a sacrifice, and He opted to offer His own life, which God accepted as the ultimate sacrifice. The Mosaic covenant was weak and ineffective in offering salvation. The earthly Tabernacle was a copy, not the actual dwelling of God. Christ serves as the mediator of a better covenant, ushering the worshipper into God's presence. The new covenant fosters a relationship with God based on grace, making us His tabernacle. Therefore, build your faith in Christ, not on mere rituals. As a beneficiary of the New Covenant, you have the privilege to access the presence of God and to enjoy His promises.

*REFLECTION:*
Be a beneficiary of the new covenant.

*PRAYER:*
Father, thank You for the new covenant. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
ISAIAH 26:10.
"Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness, they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the Lord."

*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
DEUTERONOMY 18-20.

ii. HOW TO RESIST TEMPTATION

"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel." - Philippians 1:27

The Bible says that the evil one goes around like a roaring lion looking for prey to devour. Devouring means to eat something greedily and quickly. This is what the evil one does when he seduces God's children. He does not care how much pain you have, because he has no mercy.

You are also not immune to his seductive power. The closer you live to God, the more the evil one will try to take you away from God. Jesus says: 'Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat' (Luke 22:31). The wicked do not have to be seduced by the evil one. They already live in sin anyway.

Be happy with temptation

When you are a child of God, it is not strange that you are tempted by the evil one, because he tries that with all of God's children. That is why the Bible says in James 1:2: 'Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.'

You might ask: 'Why should I be joyous?' Well, God allows these temptations. He seeks people who are able to say afterwards: 'It was such a fierce battle but praise the Lord: God was with me. Hallelujah.'

God trusts His child

Getting into temptations is not a sign of weakness. No, it is an honor when you face temptations. It is a sign that God trusts His child. That is why He allows this. You can say in every circumstance of life: 'God is with me. I don't have to be scared. The evil one is powerless.' You have the shield of faith with which you can extinguish his flaming arrows.

The evil one is a fool. If you know the almighty power of God, you are able to laugh at the tricks of the evil one. You can resist him in the name of Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit and with the Word of God.

2. Evening Prayer for today.

i. Evening Prayer

This [is] the day [which] the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. ⏤ Psalm 118:24

A day without prayer is a day without blessing, and a life without prayer is a life without power. ⏤ Edwin Harvey

O blessed Jesus, whom we love even though we have not seen You, in whom, though we do not see You, we believe and rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory—we come to You at the close of another day. Abide with us, for it is evening, and the day is almost over. The night will be as bright as day if You are with us, for it is never dark where You are.

We bring to You the joys of this day. All the happiness we have experienced came from You. Every fragment of beauty we enjoyed was from Your hand. You made the blue skies, the green fields, the lovely flowers, the birds with their sweet songs, and all the beautiful things in this world. You made the children whose voices bring music into our homes. The sunshine is Yours, and the stars are from Your hand. It’s amazing what a beautiful world You have made just to be our home. Our hearts are full of praise as we think of all these things that show Your loving thought for us.

We lay our burdens down at Your feet. What we have done today, we bring to You for Your blessing, for no work is complete until it bears Your touch and blessing.

Finish what we have begun.
Cleanse what our soiled hands have stained.
Correct what our clumsiness has marred.

If we have neglected any duty, forgive us and show us what it is so that we may still try to do it. Teach us more and more to be thoughtful, watchful, and alert so that we may do what we ought to do, that we may hear the cries of human need from weary hearts around us, calling us to acts of love. May we live ever closer to Jesus, and then we will know what we ought to do. Bless us, Father, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
