DISTINGUISHING MARKS OF A CHRISTIAN LEADER
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God." 1 Peter 5:1-2 NLT.
Just like in every vocation, there are distinctive marks that distinguish a Christian leader from others. You see, the truth is that whatever a man sows he shall reap, if one sows the qualities of God, he will reap the fruits of those qualities.
Though the following are not exhaustive, but are very vital and important.
1). Leading The Sheep: (1 Peter 5:1-14)
You cannot as a true leader over God's people watch over them grudgingly or dishonest gain, as that is one of the identities of a hireling.
2). Growth: (John 21:16-17)
You cannot lift someone if you're not lifted, and so you must grow to help others grow.
3). Spiritual Depth: (John 15:16)
When you get stepped upon or cut back, for instance, you will notice your humanity or self-life being swallowed into God's love; and when pruned by Him, you'll grow out of yourself into a new life.
PRAYER BULLETS:
Father LORD, I thank You for the privilege of being a leader, even in my little corner. Endue me with Your wisdom and strength to be effective to Your glory.
