THE PILGRIMS GUIDE  TUESDAY MARCH 3, 2026 THE MARKS OF A TRUE DISCIPLE 1 A WORD FROM THE WORD: "Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, 'If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.'" John 8:31, NKJV.  Whenever God wants to do something for his own glory, he doesn’t allow men to take the initiative.  It is highly reprehensible from the spiritual perspective for a mortal to think that he can help God. He is the Supreme and Sovereign Majesty, and is not deficient in wisdom. The first foundational mark of a true disciple is spiritual rebirth, and it must be evident. When we talk about spiritual rebirth here, we mean a new creation experience.  A true disciple of our LORD Jesus, must be born again. Without accepting Jesus' invitation to receive Him into your life as LORD and personal Saviour, walk and work with Him, any other activity you take, even with and in His name would at best be described or qualified as mere religion. All His disciples received and believed in Him, you cannot be an exception.  It should be noted that it's not enough to be born again, as one can lose his salvation and sanctification, therefore it is important for you who has experienced spiritual rebirth to strive at all times to abide, continue and obey God's word as these makes you a true disciple, and that, elevates you to the knowledge of the Truth which sets you free.
