*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 62*
*DATE: 3RD MARCH 2026*
*TOPIC: STRENGTHENING THE SPIRIT MAN*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 7:19 (NKJV)*
“ *For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.”*
*Devotional Message*

Just as a physical body becomes weak when starved of food, so does the spirit man become weak when deprived of spiritual nourishment. A weak body is easily defeated, and the same principle applies spiritually. The Christian life is a constant contention between the flesh and the Spirit. As Apostle Paul teaches, the flesh and the Spirit are always in opposition to one another.

When the spirit is strong, the flesh is brought under subjection. But when we starve the spirit—by neglecting prayer, studying the Word, and fasting—and instead feed the flesh through worldly indulgences, we position ourselves for defeat. This is the struggle Paul described when he said he found himself doing the things he did not want to do. The presence of sin in humanity finds an opportunity when the spirit is not fortified.

This is why we must consistently feed on the Word of God. When you are “word-full,” the Word governs your thoughts, shapes your conscience, and directs your decisions. Meditation on Scripture strengthens your inner man and guards you from fulfilling the desires of the flesh.

We are also instructed to pray without ceasing—both in understanding and in the Spirit. Prayer increases spiritual sensitivity and keeps the fire of God burning within. Where fire burns continuously, no intruder can comfortably approach; it will be consumed.

Lastly, fasting is essential. Fasting weakens the flesh and denies it strength to dominate. The flesh grows stronger when constantly pampered, but through fasting, prayer, and the Word, the spirit is energized. With a renewed conscience and the help of the Holy Spirit working within you, you gain the ability to avoid what should be avoided and to pursue what pleases God.

A strong spirit produces a victorious life.

*Prayer*

Heavenly Father, help me to discipline my spiritual life. Teach me to consistently feed on Your Word, to pray without ceasing, and to fast so that my flesh may be subdued. Strengthen my spirit man and increase my sensitivity to Your Spirit. Let my life be governed by You and not by the desires of the flesh. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
