Good morning, brethren.

1. Morning devotion for today.

i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 2026.
"COME TO GOD’S CITY OF REFUGE"
‘Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge
’ Joshua 20:2 NIV

IN OLD Testament times, if you killed someone by accident, their family had the right to take your life in return. So God arranged six ‘cities of refuge’, three on either side of the Jordan River, so that no matter where you were you had access to God’s mercy and protection. You just ran to one of those cities, told the town elders your story, and they were required to take you in. The only stipulation was that you stayed in that city until the high priest died. When that happened, you were free to return to your family and take back everything you’d lost. Can you see a spiritual parallel here? Jesus Christ is called ‘
the High Priest of our confession’ (Hebrews 3:1 NAS). When you run to Him for refuge, you need only confess your sins. There, at the point of faith, you are forgiven, viewed as ‘a new creation’, and placed in God’s protective custody. Just as ‘the avenger of blood’ couldn’t enter the city of refuge, satan cannot cross ‘the blood line’ and hurt you either. When Jesus cried from the cross, ‘
It is finished
’ (John 19:30 NIV), all your sins from the womb to the tomb were paid for in full. And because Christ your great High Priest died and rose again, He will restore back to you everything you lost as the result of sin’s power in your life. One author puts it this way: ‘If there were a thousand steps between us and God, He will take all but one. He will leave the final one to us. The choice is ours.’ So come to God’s city of refuge today.

ii. THE POWER OF THE TONGUE

"The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts." - James 3:5

We have to be careful what we think, because as a person becomes what he or she thinks of. However, we should also be very careful what we say, because words have a great influence and power. They have the power to accomplish something, either good or bad.

Your words are seed

Many children of God live a life of defeat and discouragement. I read this in the letters people write to me. These people say: 'Nothing good ever comes my way. I cannot do it anyway.' They call themselves stupid, ugly or a failure. They forget that these words pave the way for such self-image to become reality.

Words are seed. The Word of God is also seed. If you talk about failure, that seed takes root and it starts to grow in your mind. After this, it will bear fruit and eventually you will start behaving accordingly. This is how words work. If you think and say that you are a failure, you should not expect to live victoriously at the same time, because these two do not go together.

The steering wheel

The Bible compares the tongue with the steering wheel of a ship. This little rudder makes a huge oil tanker go in the direction the captain wants it to go. That small rudder determines the purpose of a large ship.

This is how our tongue determines the direction our life-ship goes. You destroy the Divine nature in you with your negative words.

You are so valuable in God's eyes and this is how He wants you to think about yourself. Say: 'God loves me. He loves me despite my shortcomings. God has a good future for me. He has good thoughts about me.' If you think and speak like this, this seed will take root and you will start behaving accordingly.

2. Morning Prayer for today.

i. Morning Prayer

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. ⏀ John 16:33

There is nothing that makes us love a man so much as praying for him. ⏀ William Law

May You teach us the lesson of cheerfulness, O God. We are too easily irritated and cast down. We let little troubles and difficulties discourage us. Our joy is too easily overshadowed. Our song of gladness too often turns into a dirge. We fret ourselves needlessly and fail to rejoice always. Sorrows come over us like a flood and bury us beneath their dark waves. Our gladness is too easily turned to sadness as life’s cares and trials come upon us.

We hear You bidding us to be of good cheer because You have overcome the world, telling us that though we have tribulations, we may have peace in You. But the lesson is not easy. It’s hard for us to keep the song always in our hearts and the sunshine always on our faces when there are so many cares.

We come to You, pleading that You will teach us how to always be cheerful. Help us to have such a strong, quiet, firm faith in Jesus that no matter what comes into our lives, we may always rejoice. Rescue us from discouragement, no matter how great its cause may appear to be. Help us to cast every burden on You, sure that You will sustain us. Help us to learn to rejoice even in disappointments, knowing that if we could see all as You see, we would find beauty and good in everything that seems painful and dark to us.

We desire to be ministers of cheer to others. Forbid that we should go out with sadness in our faces, casting a shadow on other lives. May we be sunshine to others. May we show the world what grace can do in making us messengers of gladness. We ask this in the name of Him who overcame the world and can give us peace. Amen.
