"OPERATING IN YOUR GOD-GIVEN STRENGTH" ‘There are diversities of gifts…’ 1 Corinthians 12:4 NKJV PAUL WRITES, ‘There are diversities of gifts, but the same spirit.’ Successful people invest their time, energy and resources into their core strengths. Why? Because that is where they get their highest return! And when they occasionally depart from that approach, as Colin Salmon did when he took time out from his successful acting career to take part in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. Colin, a statuesque, confident actor proved to be less competent in the dancing arena, leaving the show after just five weeks, never receiving higher than 27 points from the panel of judges. He may have enjoyed the experience, but exiting the show so early is probably not what he’d like to be remembered for. God gave you gifts that make you unique, gifts that hold great possibilities. But you have to discover them and develop them. A sign on a DIY shop says it all: ‘We’ve got it, if you can find it.’ Nobody was ever born without talent, including you, but you’ve got to find it. What keeps us from doing that? 1) The company we keep. The old saying goes, ‘If you run around with turkeys, you’ll never fly with eagles.’ The Scripture says, ‘He who walks with wise men, will be wise…’ (Proverbs 13:20 NKJV). 2) Failing to spend time in prayer and in God’s Word. God is not only the giver of your gift,; he supplies the strength to function successfully in it. Aristotle said, ‘We are what we repeatedly do. LOVE "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God." - 1 John 4:7 When you ask what the definition of love is, you will get different answers depending on what people have experienced in life. What is true love? There are even people who have never known love. There was never a Mum or Dad to put their arms around them and comfort them. Other people think that love is only sexual. Is there a standard against which we can test true love? The Bible teaches that you will only understand what true love is when you know the living God. Why is that? Because GOD IS LOVE. He does not have to look for it. HE IS LOVE. Love radiates from His Divine nature. God does not want you to only hear about love, He wants you to experience true love and put it into practice in your marriage, in your family, among friends, at work and in your church. God's love is the true love which always aims for the other! This is different than the upbringing we have today in the Western world. We have a self-centered lifestyle. Therefore, the mentality of the youngsters is always 'me, myself and I.' 'I want a cell phone, I want a motorcycle, etc.' The love of God always gives to the other, just as He did by giving His beloved Son. Human love is selective, limited, inadequate and dependent on circumstances. The people we love, should first be worthy of our affection. Humanly love can also turn into hatred. However, God's love is unlimited despite our unfaithfulness, rebellion, unwillingness, disobedience and indifference. Morning Prayer [It is of] the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. [They are] new every morning: great [is] thy faithfulness. ⏤ Lamentations 3:22-23 Prayer is the slender nerve that moves the muscle of omnipotence. ⏤ Charles Spurgeon O God, who grants mercy and truth to Your people from generation to generation, we come with confidence to You. You have never turned away any who came to You. Not one of Your words has ever failed to be fulfilled. Your promises have always been kept with those who have accepted them and leaned upon them. Your name has been a strong tower to everyone who has run to it for safety. You are . . . An everlasting rock, An eternal refuge, A very present help in times of trouble for all who have turned to You. We come as Your children to You at the beginning of a new day. Your mercies are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. We ask You to show us Your face before we go out into the day. If we have Your blessing, we will not fear any experiences we may have to meet. In the light of Your countenance may we walk all the hours of this day—and then we shall be safe. Put holy thoughts and heavenly aspirations into our hearts. We desire to live the heavenly life in this world, and we can only do so if You put Your thoughts into our minds. We are going out into a world full of evil, with unholy influences on every side. We have no power of our own to move through this evil world and keep ourselves unspotted. We come to You for grace to help us. May You keep us from evil. Keep our hearts so that only holy feelings and desires may spring up in them. Preserve us from the power of evil in others around us. Let us . . . Not listen to wicked suggestions, Nor be swayed by wrong examples, Nor yield to unholy motives. Let not passion or appetite rule us.
