‎Many people today claim to belong to the church of Christ, yet their lives continue in vices, sins, and worldly practices. This raises an important question: Is it truly the church of Christ if the members continue living in sin without repentance? The Bible teaches us that a person’s true identity and spiritual condition are revealed by the fruits they bear in their life.
‎Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:16, “You will know them by their fruits.” Just as a tree is recognized by the kind of fruit it produces, a believer is recognized by the kind of life he or she lives. A good tree produces good fruit, while a bad tree produces bad fruit. In the same way, a life truly transformed by Christ will show evidence of righteousness, holiness, humility, love, obedience to God’s word, and a sincere desire to turn away from sin.
‎The true church does not encourage people to remain in their sinful ways. Instead, it teaches repentance, transformation, and a new life in Christ. The purpose of the church is not to tolerate sin but to guide people toward spiritual renewal and a life that honors God. When a person truly encounters Christ, there will be change. Old habits are left behind, and a new life begins through the power of God.
‎This does not mean believers are perfect, but it means they strive to live according to God’s will. They continually repent, grow spiritually, and seek to bear good fruits that reflect the character of Christ. The gospel calls people not only to believe but also to be transformed.
‎Let us examine our lives honestly. What kind of fruit are we producing? Are our actions reflecting the teachings of Christ? Our lives should testify that we belong to Him. May we always seek to live in a way that glorifies God and reflects the true transformation that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
