*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 71*
*DATE:12th March 2026*
*TOPIC: THE POWER OF ASKING*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: JOHN 16:26 (NIV)*
*“In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf.”*
*Devotional Message:*
One important principle in the kingdom of God is that believers must learn to place a demand on the promises and inheritance that God has prepared for them. Jesus made it clear to His disciples that there would come a time when they themselves would ask the Father in His name. He emphasized that He would not ask the Father on their behalf. This statement shows that asking is our responsibility.
Throughout the Scriptures, we see examples of people who received their inheritance because they placed a demand on what belonged to them. Caleb is one such example. Many years after the promise was given, he came before Joshua and demanded the mountain that had been promised to him, and he received his inheritance.
Another example is the prodigal son who asked his father for his portion of the inheritance. Though he later squandered it and returned in repentance, his father still received him with love. The elder son, however, complained that he had served faithfully yet had never received such favor. The father’s response revealed a powerful truth: everything he had already belonged to the elder son, but the difference was that he had never asked.
This aligns with what the apostle James teaches: “You do not have because you do not ask.” Many believers remain without certain blessings not because God has refused them, but because they have not asked for them.
Jesus taught His disciples that whatever they ask in His name, they will receive. He further emphasized this principle by saying, “Ask and it will be given to you.” Therefore, as children of God, we must learn to present our requests before the Father.
The promises of God over your life—whether concerning a job, a spouse, a business, a career, a ministry, or any other area—often require you to place a demand through prayer. While Jesus is our Advocate and continually intercedes for us, He made it clear that when it comes to asking, it is our responsibility.
Child of God, the only thing that may be standing between you and the manifestation of God’s promises in your life could simply be this: you have not asked. Therefore, come boldly before the Father and present your requests in the name of Jesus.
*Prayer:*
Heavenly Father, thank You for the access You have given me through Jesus Christ. Teach me to come boldly before You and present my requests in faith. Help me to trust Your promises and to place a demand through prayer for the things You have prepared for my life. I ask that Your will be done in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
