SERMON TITLE: GOD IS NOT AGAINST YOUR PROSPERITY

Introduction

Many believers struggle with the idea of prosperity. Some think that if they become successful or wealthy, they are becoming worldly. But the truth is clear in Scripture: God is not against your prosperity—He is against anything that takes His place in your life.

God delights in the well-being of His children. Prosperity in God's kingdom is not only about money; it includes spiritual growth, peace, good health, purpose, and provision.

The enemy often pushes two extremes:

1. Poverty mentality – believing God wants you to suffer.
2. Greed mentality – loving wealth more than God.

But God’s plan is balanced prosperity with righteousness.

1. God Desires the Prosperity of His People

Psalm 35:27

> “Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”
God does not take pleasure in your lack, struggles, or stagnation. He is a Father who delights in blessing His children.

3 John 1:2

> “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Notice the order:

Soul prosperity

Health prosperity

Material prosperity

God wants complete prosperity.

2. Prosperity Comes Through Obedience

Deuteronomy 28:1-2

> “If you fully obey the Lord your God… all these blessings will come upon you."

God’s blessings follow obedience, not manipulation.

Joshua 1:8

> “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth… then you shall make your way prosperous.”

Biblical prosperity is connected to:
God’s Word
Discipline
Faithfulness

3. God Blesses People to Bless Others
God never blesses us just for ourselves.

Genesis 12:2

> “I will bless you… and you shall be a blessing.”

True prosperity is purposeful prosperity.

When God prospers you:

Families are helped

Ministries grow

The needy are supported

The Gospel spreads

4. The Real Danger Is Loving Money

God is not against money, but He warns against loving money.

1 Timothy 6:10

> “For the love of money is the root of all evil.”

Money is a tool.
But when it becomes a master, it destroys.

Jesus taught balance.

Matthew 6:33

> “Seek first the kingdom of God… and all these things shall be added unto you.”

When God is first, prosperity becomes a blessing, not a curse.

CASE STUDY: THE PROSPERITY OF JOSEPH

Joseph's life demonstrates Godly prosperity.

Genesis 39:2

> “The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man.”

Yet Joseph experienced:

Betrayal

Slavery

Prison

Despite challenges, God still prospered him.

Eventually Joseph became Prime Minister of Egypt, saving nations from famine.

Lessons from Joseph:

Prosperity does not mean absence of trials.

Faithfulness attracts God’s favor.

God can raise you from the pit to the palace.

ACTION STEPS FOR GODLY PROSPERITY

1. Put God First

Prioritize prayer, obedience, and spiritual growth.

2. Develop a Diligent Work Ethic

God blesses the work of our hands.

Proverbs 10:4

> “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”

3. Practice Generosity

Giving unlocks divine supply.

Luke 6:38

> “Give, and it shall be given unto you.”

4. Avoid Comparison
Your prosperity journey is unique.

5. Manage Resources Wisely

God blesses good stewards.
