Good morning, brethren.

THE WORD FOR TODAY. MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2026.
"THE BIBLE IS GOD SPEAKING TO YOU (5)"
‘Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them.’
Psalm 119:140 NIV
The Bible Is God Speaking to You (5)
CAN YOU imagine how honoured you’d feel to have a personal audience with a president or prime minister? What are the chances you’d say, ‘Sorry, I’m too busy. I can’t come’? No, you’d approach them with profound respect, observe every protocol and hang on every word. Well, you can have a personal audience each day with the King of Kings and He will speak to you personally through His Word. When you’re in love with someone, you want to spend every possible moment with them, delighting in what they have to say and responding to them from your heart. David said, ‘The law from Your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold’ (Psalm 119:72 NIV). Again he said, ‘Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and Your servant loves them.’ An unknown poet wrote: ‘Though the cover is worn and the pages are torn, and though places bear traces of tears. Yet more precious than gold is this book worn and old, that can shatter and scatter my fears. When I prayerfully look in this precious old book, as my eyes scan the pages I see; Many tokens of love from the Father above, Who is nearest and dearest to me. This old book is my guide, ’tis a friend by my side, it will lighten and brighten my way. And each promise I find soothes and gladdens my mind, as I read it and heed it today.’ Whatever you have to sacrifice, whatever priorities you have to rearrange, read your Bible every day.

ii. WHY ARE PRAYER MEETINGS SO IMPORTANT?
"They all joined together constantly in prayer." - Acts 1:14
The meetings of the first Church did not lack prayer, intercession and praise. These should always be in every church meeting! To have a prayer life is to have true fellowship with God. Prayer is the breath of the spiritual life of a child of God.
The Church of God was born from prayer. The disciples and other followers of Jesus came together and prayed for ten days in the upper room. While they were praying on the tenth day, the Holy Spirit came, and this was the beginning of the living Church of Jesus Christ.
Victories on the knees
Those meetings must have been wonderful prayer meetings! The disciples did not give up, they kept praying for the Holy Spirit. And suddenly, on that day of Pentecost, it happened: the Spirit descended and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
As you continue reading the Bible, you read that the first church developed their prayer life more and more. In Acts 2:42 we read: 'They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.'
And in Acts 4:31 we read: 'After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.'
The Church of Christ can only function, as the Bible teaches, when there is a Biblical prayer life. The same goes for you and me. Victories in the Kingdom of God are only achieved on our knees.
'The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds' (2 Corinthians 10:4).
When possible, we should always go to the prayer meetings to pray.

2. Morning Prayer for today.
i. Morning Prayer
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world. ⏤ James 1:27
True prayer is a way of life, not just for use in cases of emergency. ⏤ Billy Graham
Father, it is not a holy world into which we must now go forth. It is full of sin. We must meet many temptations. Then it is not an easy life into which we have to go. It has its tasks, its duties, its responsibilities, and its conflicts. We shall have our burdens to carry and our duties to do.
Yet we would not refuse to go forth into the world. It is Your voice that calls us forth—and wherever Your voice calls us, we would go without hesitation. We have no strength or wisdom of our own to make us equal to all the work and struggle of the day—but we know that when You send us forth, You will give us all the strength and wisdom we shall need. You have promised that as our days—so shall our strength be.
Fill us with Your grace, that we may be able to move through this evil world without faltering in our faithfulness. We are not of the world, but belong to Heaven, and are citizens of the kingdom of Jesus. Help us to live out here on earth, our true life, the life of Jesus, the life of Heaven. May we be enabled to keep ourselves unspotted from the world. May we live so purely, so earnestly, with such abundant life, that our influence shall be a real force for Jesus.
We ask for grace to make our common weekday work holy and beautiful, with the beauty of Christlikeness. May we be as Jesus to everyone we meet. In our social life, our business, our responsibilities at home, in all our friendships, in our leisure—may we show the sweetness of the love of Jesus. May You keep us, each and all, in all our goings and comings. Bless us—and use us to bless the world. Bring us together in the evening. We ask all these favors for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
