FALSE APPEARANCES
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves..." Mark 11:13 NKJV.
With the fig trees, it's abnormal to have leaves without also having figs. So what the LORD Jesus dealt with in cursing the tree was false advertising. The leaves said, 'There are figs here', but the figs weren’t there. It was a practical demonstration of false appearance, which is not in sync with Godliness.
Whenever, as a child of God, you give an exaggerated impression about yourself in the manner of the figs, you're likely to suffer the same consequence (v-20).
In all the works and ministry of our LORD Jesus, this is the only 'destructive' miracle that was recorded. If this was the only miracle of its kind, then you must endeavour to see the great and important lesson in it.
God doesn’t approve when there is profession without reality, or talk without walk.
Today in the household of God, numerous fig trees are abounding in full-bloom without figs. Heaven frowns at this outward form without the corresponding fruitfulness. If a child of God is caught in this ugly situation, the best remedy would be to make recourse to the LORD Jesus in repentance, appropriately and correctly. Such a person would definitely receive pardon from the LORD and be the best for it, and as such, become a great tool in God's hand for a greater work.
Are you ready to be fruitful to the glory of God? Don't mind the green leaves of pretence and false appearances; go beyond that and bear fruits.
PRAYER BULLETS
LORD Jesus, thank You for saving me. Please help me to humbly follow Your leading and teachings for my life. Help me with the grace of humility.
