TODAY'S MESSAGE SERMON TITLE: TECHNOLOGY IS POWERFUL — BUT GOD IS SUPREME 1. Introduction We are living in a generation where technology has become very powerful. With a phone in your hand, you can communicate across the world, access information instantly, and influence thousands of people. But there is a danger: when people begin to trust technology more than they trust God. Technology is powerful, but it is not all-powerful. Technology is intelligent, but it is not all-knowing. Technology is fast, but it is not eternal. Only God is Supreme. Psalm 147:5 "Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; his understanding is infinite." No system, machine, or invention can compete with the wisdom and authority of God. 2. Understanding the Power of Technology Technology has improved many aspects of human life. Examples: Smartphones Artificial Intelligence Medical technology Internet and communication systems Technology can: Connect nations Heal diseases Spread information quickly But technology cannot replace God. Daniel 2:21 "He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and raises up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding." Even the intelligence used to create technology comes from God. Without God, human wisdom cannot exist. 3. The Danger of Trusting Technology More Than God When people begin to rely completely on technology, they slowly forget God. Today many people: Wake up and check their phones before prayer Trust Google more than God's Word Spend hours online but minutes with God Technology becomes a modern idol when it replaces God in our hearts. Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me." Technology must remain a tool, not a master. 4. God’s Supremacy Over Human Systems Throughout the Bible, God has shown that human power cannot compete with divine authority. Example: Tower of Babel Genesis 11:4 People tried to build a tower to reach heaven using their own intelligence and unity. But God intervened. Genesis 11:7-8 God confused their language and scattered them. Lesson: No matter how advanced human systems become, God still controls the universe. 5. Case Study: When Technology Fails A powerful example occurred during the Titanic disaster in 1912. The Titanic was called "the unsinkable ship." It represented the most advanced technology of its time. But after hitting an iceberg, the ship sank. Thousands died. Human confidence collapsed. The lesson: No matter how advanced technology becomes, it cannot override the sovereignty of God. Psalm 127:1 "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain." 6. The Proper Place of Technology in a Christian Life Technology is not evil. It can actually be used to serve God's purpose. Examples: Online evangelism Digital Bible apps Christian teaching videos Gospel messages spreading globally The same phone that can distract you can also disciple you. The difference is how you use it. 1 Corinthians 10:31 "Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 7. Action Steps for Believers 1. Let God be your first source, not technology Before searching the internet, learn to search the Scriptures. Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness." 2. Control technology so it doesn't control you Don't allow devices to dominate your time and attention. Set boundaries for phone use. 1 Corinthians 6:12 "I will not be mastered by anything." 3. Use technology to advance the Gospel Share scriptures, sermons, and encouragement online. Let your digital life reflect your faith. Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." 4. Spend more time with God than with devices Your spiritual battery must be charged daily. Prayer and the Word of God are your spiritual power source. Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night." 8. It cannot give eternal life. It cannot replace the presence of God. Only God is Supreme. Phones will become outdated. Software will be replaced. Machines will fail. But God remains forever.
