SERMON TITLE: GOD IS STILL WRITING YOUR STORY
TEXT:
Jeremiah 29:11
Isaiah 43:18-19
Philippians 1:6
INTRODUCTION
Life can feel unfinished, confusing, or even broken at times. There are moments when it looks like your story has ended in failure, delay, or disappointment. But hear this clearly:
God is not done with you yet.
As long as you are alive, God is still writing your story—and He never writes bad endings.
KEY SCRIPTURES
1. Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope."
2. Philippians 1:6
"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..."
3. Isaiah 43:19
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
MESSAGE: UNDERSTANDING YOUR STORY IN GOD’S HANDS
1. Your current chapter is not your final chapter
You may be in a season of:
Delay
Pain
Confusion
But God doesn’t end stories in the middle. What you are experiencing is a chapter, not the conclusion.
2. God uses broken pieces to create beautiful endings
Many people in the Bible had messy beginnings:
Joseph was betrayed
David was rejected
Ruth was widowed
Yet, God rewrote their stories.
Your mistakes do not disqualify you—they become material in God’s hands.
3. God writes differently than we expect
We want:
Speed
Comfort
Clarity
But God works through:
Process
Growth
Faith
What feels like delay is often divine preparation.
4. God is both the Author and Finisher
When God writes your story:
He starts it
He sustains it
He completes it
You don’t have to force the ending—just stay in His will.
CASE STUDY: JOSEPH (GENESIS 37–50)
Joseph’s life looked like a disaster:
Betrayed by brothers
Sold into slavery
Falsely accused
Imprisoned
At multiple points, it looked like his story had ended.
But God was still writing.
In the end:
He became a ruler in Egypt
Saved nations from famine
Reunited with his family
Genesis 50:20
"You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good..."
Lesson: What looks like a setback may be a setup.
ACTION STEPS
1. Stop judging your life too early
Don’t conclude what God is still working on.
2. Trust God in the process
Even when you don’t understand, keep walking with Him.
3. Stay faithful where you are
Joseph served faithfully in prison before he ruled in the palace.
4. Speak positively about your future
Don’t use your mouth to cancel what God is writing.
5. Keep moving forward
Even slow progress is still progress in God’s plan.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
