*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 78*
*DATE:19th March 2026*
*TOPIC: THE AUTHORITY IN THE NAME OF JESUS*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:— ACTS 19:15 (NIV)*
*“Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?”*
*Devotional Message:*
At the moment a man surrenders his life to Jesus Christ, he receives the forgiveness of sins, the gift of righteousness, and Zoe—the very life of God. In addition, he is granted the authority to use the Name of Jesus. This authority is both legal and spiritual, a divine privilege to act on His behalf.
Scripture declares that the Name of Jesus is above every name, and that at His Name every knee must bow (Philippians 2:9–10). Through this Name, believers are empowered to pray, confront demonic forces, and minister healing. However, this authority is not exercised through mere words, but through a living and authentic relationship with Christ.
In Acts 19:13–16, the seven sons of Sceva attempted to cast out demons by invoking the Name of Jesus, saying, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches…” This statement reveals their limitation—they had no personal relationship with Christ. Their knowledge of Him was second-hand.
The response of the evil spirit was striking: “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” This reveals that the spiritual realm recognizes those who truly belong to Christ and walk in His authority.
The sons of Sceva lacked a genuine relationship with Jesus, and as a result, they were overpowered and humiliated. This teaches us that authority flows from identity, and identity is established through relationship. It is not enough to know about Jesus; one must know Him personally.
The Name of Jesus is not a formula to be used casually. It is a covenant privilege given to those who are submitted to Him. When a believer walks in obedience and fellowship with Christ, the authority of His Name becomes effective, and every opposing force must bow.
Scripture warns us that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Therefore, ignorance of spiritual truths can lead to vulnerability. But when we receive Christ as Lord and Savior, we are empowered to walk in dominion and continue His works on the earth (John 14:12).
Beloved, if you desire to exercise authority in the Name of Jesus, you must cultivate a deep and personal relationship with Him. Relationship validates authority, and intimacy gives power to His Name in your life.
*Prayer:*
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of salvation and the authority in the Name of Jesus. I ask for grace to walk in true relationship with You, not merely in words but in truth and obedience. Teach me to know You deeply and to walk in the fullness of the authority You have given me. Let my life reflect Your power and dominion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
