THE PILGRIMS GUIDE

FRIDAY MARCH 20, 2026

FORTUNATE MISTAKE

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"Joseph said to them, 'Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.'" Genesis 50:20 NKJV.

Think about Joseph; his brothers betrayed him. He went through about thirteen years of injustice, rejection, in prison, shattered dreams, etc; all because of his brothers’ jealousy.
One day, they showed up at the palace, and then he was vindicated, promoted; and in charge. His brothers were standing before him trying to buy food in a time of famine.

This was Joseph’s big chance to pay them back, and get even. But Joseph heard the still small voice saying, 'Forgive, be good to them. Let it go.' He had a right to be angry, get revenge, but Joseph understood this principle. He had the 'extra mile obedience.'
He forgave people that didn’t deserve it. He forgave people that tried to ruin his life. And because God could trust him to do the hard thing, that is to forgive when it wasn’t fair, be good to people that weren’t good to him, God poured out extra mile blessings.
He put Joseph in charge of the whole nation.

PRAYER BULLETS:

ABBA Father, I ask for Your grace to be forgiving like Joseph, even when it's very difficult to do so.

FURTHER READING:

Job 42:2; Isaiah 55:8-9; Romans 8:28; Acts 2:23.
