GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS, O LORD
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV.
This is from the lamentations of Jeremiah; the prophet, about what God allowed to befell Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel, His own people. It is what you can call the funeral of a city, this lamentation was a tearstained picture of a once prosperous and proud city that was reduced to a rubble by the invading army of Babylon. But here in the context of our anchor Scripture we see the prophet pause and extol God's faithfulness (v 23).
Regardless of the enormous cost to Him, God is always faithful to His own, and He also admonishes His children to be faithful as well. God is not only faithful, He honours faithfulness too. It's a truthful fact that we don't all possess the same amount of strength, but we are at least expected to be faithful in whatever we do, and do it to the glory of God, as that mirrors an aspect of His faithfulness. As common as work is, He says, 'Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.' (Ecclesiates 9:10 NIV).
PRAYER BULLETS:
Father LORD, help me by Your extant grace to be faithful in whatever I do, just as You are.
FURTHER READING:
Proverbs 20:6; 1 Corinthians 4:2; Lamentations 3:21-23; Ecclesiastes 9:10.
