Good evening, brethren.

1. Evening devotion for today.

i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
MONDAY 23RD MARCH, 2026.

*SUB-THEME:*
THE GRACE OF GOD IN DIFFICULT TIMES.

*TOPIC:*
TEMPTATION AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE.

*TEXT:*
MATTHEW 4:1-10.
1. Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.
3. The tempter came to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
5. Then the devil took Him to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple.
6. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: “ ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ ”
7. Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
8. Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9. “All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will bow down and worship me.”
10. Jesus said to him, “Away from Me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’ ”

*TOPIC:*
TEMPTATION AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE.

*THE MESSAGE:*
Since the fall of Adam, humanity has been under the lure of Satan, the antagonist of God. Our text shows that Satan is at war with those who follow and obey God to get them to do his whims or theirs. Satan tempts Jesus in the desert. He wanted to truncate the mission of Jesus, who came to save humanity and establish a kingdom. If Jesus had given in, His mission on earth to give us eternal life would have been lost. But Jesus resisted the devil's temptations, using Scripture. The devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Pet. 5:8). Child of God, never rationalise temptations, but use the word! Depend on God's grace to fight temptation and engage in spiritual warfare.

*REFLECTION:*
Resist the devil.

*PRAYER:*
Lord Jesus, help me to resist the devil's tricks with Your word. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
ROMANS 8:28.
And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
1 SAMUEL 26-28.

The day when Jesus stood alone,
And felt the hearts of men like stone,
And knew He came but to atone—
– that day ‘He held His peace.’

They witnessed falsely to His word,
They bound Him with a cruel cord,
Mad mockingly proclaimed Him ‘Lord’;
– but Jesus held His peace.

They spat upon Him in His face,
They dragged Him on from place to place,
They heaped upon Him all disgrace;
– “but Jesus held His peace”

My friend, have you for far much less,
With rage, which you called righteousness,
Resented slights with great distress?
– your Saviour “held His peace.”

Sublime Saviour

What a picture of our sublime, silent Saviour. He held His peace. He answered not a word to the brutal ones who so cruelly maligned Him.

Eternal Creator

He Who threw stars into space and painted the butterfly’s wing. He Who set the planets into motion and keeps our tears in a bottle.

Almighty God

He Who orders the tides of the oceans.. “Thus far and no more”. He Who is from eternity to eternity – God Almighty. He could have brought twelve thousand legions of angels to His aid.

Supreme Servant

He Who came to bind up the broken-hearted and set the captives free. He Who fed the masses with bread and offered the Living Bread of Life to all. He Who turned water to wine and offered Himself as the Living Water to all. He permitted them to say and to do their worst – and yet, He held His peace.

Crucified Redeemer

He Who with one breath could have laid them prostrate before His feet. He Who was their Creator – with one fiery rebuke could have silenced them forever. He, without Whose power and authority they could not draw one more breath. He stood before them – God’s Holy Lamb – led as a lamb to the slaughter.

WHY?

Why? To redeem you and to redeem me. This is your God, and this is my indescribable God.

2. Evening Prayer for today.

i. Evening Prayer

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. ⏤ 1 Peter 2:24

The cross is the only ladder high enough to touch Heaven’s threshold. ⏤ George Dana Boardman

O Lamb of God, have mercy upon us. You who sit at the right hand of God and will come in glory to judge the world—have mercy upon us and forgive our sins. We praise You, O Jesus, for Your wonderful condescension, for the priceless sacrifice made by You in accomplishing our redemption, and for the blessed salvation which You have obtained for us. May all that is within us be aroused to praise You.

We bow before Your cross, and we remember again what our redemption cost You. We remember Your years of patient humiliation, when You walked this earth, homeless and a wayfarer, with nowhere to lay Your head—that we might have a home in Heaven. We remember Your sufferings at the hands of enemies—that we might have the friendship of God. We remember Your agony in Gethsemane, Your bloody sweat—that we might have quiet peace when we come to die. We remember Your cross, with the unutterable sufferings endured there—that our sins might be forgiven and that we might have eternal redemption through Your blood. We remember Your burial and Your resting in the dark grave—that the grave might no longer have its terrors for us because You have lain in it.

We remember, too, Your glorious resurrection—that we might have a living Savior, and that we too might have the hope of resurrection and eternal life. We remember Your ascension to the right hand of God, that we might have a Friend in Heaven to intercede for us and plan for our lives. May these blessed truths be very real to us, and we will praise You forever. Amen.
