Good evening, brethren.

1. Evening devotion for today.

i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH, 2026.

*SUB-THEME:*
THE GRACE OF GOD IN DIFFICULT TIMES.

*TOPIC:*
ANXIETY.

*TEXT:*
MATTHEW 6:25-34.
25. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27. Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ?
28. “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
29. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
30. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
31. So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32. For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

*TOPIC:*
ANXIETY.

*THE MESSAGE:*
Anxiety is a complex emotional state characterised by feelings of worry, nervousness, and fear that are persistent and overwhelming. In this text, Jesus teaches about anxiety and trust in God's provision. He instructs His followers not to worry about daily needs like food and clothing, pointing them to God's care for creation. They should instead prioritise God's kingdom and righteousness, trusting that their needs will be met. Today, people are anxious about meeting their needs - food, shelter, clothing, and security. Some have resolved to cheat, steal, and even withhold tithes to meet these needs. Child of God, this is not good. Being anxious is a lack of trust in God. Work diligently and depend on God to provide for your needs.

*REFLECTION:*
Anxiety is destructive, avoid it!

*PRAYER:*
Lord, help me to depend on You for my provision. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
ROMANS 8:28.
And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose

*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
2 SAMUEL 1-4.

God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:5

John was a witness of the Light…”He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.”
John 1:8

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD.
Proverbs 20:27

Ye are the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14

True Light

John the baptizer pointed away from self to the one true Light, and the mission of each believer, born from above, is to bear witness of the Light: for He is the true light that cometh into the world. John 1:9

Glorious Light

Proverbs 20 tells us that the spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, but in our natural, unregenerate Adamic state, that candle is cold and unlighted. The candle of the Lord is set ablaze at rebirth-when touched with the heavenly flame. We are to be His candle-holders for we are His spiritual light light-bearers. We are to be witnesses of the glorious Light, of the gospel of light and truth.

Infinite Light

No man has seen God at any time and lived, for His glory is beyond understanding. No searching in the heavens above or the earth beneath can discover Him, for He dwells in eternal light and infinite love that cannot be seen nor fathomed out. Yet the infinite light of God has been expressed in a revelation of His divine love, and since the fall of our first parents, God has gradually unfolded His perfect plan.

Personified Light

And down through the centuries, His seed of Light was born by mortal flesh, until He took our flesh upon Him, and came in the likeness of earthly tissue. He took upon Himself our human nature – and tempered His brightness for a season -and everlasting light and love was Personified – and made manifest in a weak, human vessel.

Divine Light

The Eternal Son was translated into TIME. The Infinite God was contracted into a SPAN. The Immortal One was manifested in an EARTHLY FRAME. The Invisible One became a VULNERABLE BABE in the arms of His mother. This divine self-revelation was when almighty God Himself came to earth. He came to lighten our darkness and to illumine our souls. He came to give life and health instead of sickness and death.

The Lord’s Candle

This was the disclosure of the omnipotent One Who was our substitute, Who went to the cross alone. This was a manifestation of our invisible Lord as our representative:- Who took us to the cross with Himself. God entrusted into our mortal frame His light and His love – by grace through faith.. He set ablaze in us, the candle of the Lord – by grace through faith in Him.

Witness of the Light

God did all this, so that like our Edenic parents we can again have fellowship with the Father – so that like John the Baptiser, we too can bear witness of that light. As the Spirit of light ignites our human spirit, by faith, we become His witnesses. As the lighted candle is set ablaze within, He shines within and makes us His light: let your light so shine before men that men may see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in heaven. Matt.5:15

The Son of Light

Our little light is but a small glister of His Son-light shining out through our dull soul. Our flickering flame is but a gleam of the all-glorious light of the gospel of Christ. Christ empowered the twelve and the seventy as lights in His earthly ministry.. to heal the sick, to cleanse the leper, to cast out demons and to proclaim peace. Christ indwells His church that we too may bear witness as lights to the world.. that we may bear witness of Jesus Christ – Christ, the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead. Christ the prince of the kings of the earth, unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood. Rev.1:5

Fullness of Godhead

And yet He does not only give us some of Himself – He gives to each of us, His all – for in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, and ye are complete in Him, which is the Head of all principality and power Col.2:9

Light in the World

We are not a “Christ” as some like to claim, for we are all members of His one body. Christ is the Head and we are His body – both individually and corporately, and we are to act as His life and His light in the world. We cannot light anyone to heaven, nor can we save any perishing soul. We cannot give life to any dead being, nor can we forgive sins, but we can point the lost to Christ Jesus our Lord and our Head. And we can proclaim to those in need and sorrow, the fullness there is in Christ.

His Wonders

We can bear witness to Him in so many ways as the Spirit of Christ leads and guides. We can proclaim the wonders of His grace through the way we live and the way we act. We can tell out the glories of the Lord in thought and word and deed and song. Never let us miss an opportunity to broadcast abroad the wonders of His Name.

God’s Greatness

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord!
Unnumbered blessings give my spirit voice;
Tender to me the promise of His word;
In God my Saviour shall my heart rejoice.

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of His Name!
Make known His might, the deeds His arm has done;
His mercy sure, from age to age the same;
His holy Name–the Lord, the Mighty One.

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of His might!
Powers and dominions lay their glory by.
Proud hearts and stubborn wills are put to flight,
The hungry fed, the humble lifted high.

Tell out, my soul, the glories of His Word!
Firm is His promise, and His mercy sure.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord
To children’s children and for evermore.

Light in the World

Ye are the light of the world. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven,

2. Evening prayer for today.

i. Evening Prayer

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ⏤ Matthew 6:14

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. ⏤ Lewis B. Smedes

Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. May Your kingdom come. May Your will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

You have told us by the lips of Him who spoke as never any man spoke, that if we forgive men their trespasses—then You will also forgive us; but that if we forgive not men their trespasses—then neither will You forgive us our trespasses. It is not easy for us to forgive those who have done us hurt. We often cherish bitter feelings and are not willing to put them out of our hearts. Yet, our Father, we want to be like You, and we are not like You if we are unforgiving. You forgive us not once only—but endlessly. You forgive altogether, putting our sins behind Your back, remembering them no more forever, receiving Your pardoned children back into favor, as if they never had sinned, and restoring them to all that they have lost by their wandering.

Father, teach us the lesson of forgiveness. If others have trespassed against us—help us to forgive them. If they have trespassed against us seven times—help us to forgive seven times, seventy times seven times. Help us to forgive as You do—fully, freely, taking the offending friend back to our heart again, loving unto the uttermost. We desire to obey this teaching. You know how hard it is to do it. Help us, gracious Lord. Soften our spirits and humble us, until we can say from our hearts, "Forgive us our trespasses—as we forgive those who trespass against us." For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
