YOU ARE NOT THE OWNER OF YOUR LIFE Many people live as if they own their lives—making decisions without consulting God, pursuing personal desires, and ignoring divine purpose. But the truth from Scripture is clear: you are not your own. Your life belongs to God because He created you and redeemed you. Understanding this truth is the foundation of a life that pleases God. 1. GOD IS YOUR CREATOR – YOU BELONG TO HIM Genesis 1:27 – God created man in His own image. Isaiah 64:8 – “We are the clay, and thou our potter…” You did not create yourself. Just as a product belongs to its manufacturer, your life belongs to God. Implication: You don’t have absolute control over your life. Your purpose is defined by God, not by culture or personal ambition. 2. YOU WERE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE 1 Peter 1:18-19 – You were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ. Acts 20:28 – The church was purchased with His blood. Jesus paid the ultimate price for your life through His death. That means your life is no longer yours—it belongs to Him. Implication: You cannot live carelessly. Your body, choices, and lifestyle must honor God. 3. LIFE WITHOUT GOD’S CONTROL LEADS TO DESTRUCTION Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Luke 15:11-24 – The prodigal son wasted his life when he chose independence. When you live as the “owner” of your life, you disconnect from divine direction and expose yourself to failure and regret. 4. TRUE LIFE BEGINS WHEN YOU SURRENDER TO GOD Matthew 16:25 – “Whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” Romans 12:1 – Present your body as a living sacrifice. Surrender is not loss—it is gain. When you give your life to God, He gives you purpose, peace, and direction. 5. HOW TO LIVE AS GOD’S PROPERTY a. Submit Daily to God James 4:7 – Submit yourselves therefore to God. b. Seek God’s Will in Every Decision Proverbs 3:5-6 – Acknowledge Him in all your ways. c. Live to Glorify God 1 Corinthians 10:31 – Do all to the glory of God. d. Follow the Leading of the Holy Spirit Romans 8:14 – As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. CONCLUSION You are not the owner of your life—God is. He created you, redeemed you, and has a purpose for you. The best decision you can make is to surrender your life fully to Him.
