Gideon Deshi Katmut:
Good evening, brethren.
1. Evening devotion for today.
i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)
*DATE:*
SUNDAY 29TH MARCH, 2026.
*SUB-THEME:*
THE GRACE OF GOD IN DIFFICULT TIMES.
*TOPIC:*
DESPAIR.
*TEXT:*
1 KINGS 19:1-14.
1. Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
2. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”
3. Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,
4. while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”
5. Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”
6. He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.
7. The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”
8. So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
9. There he went into a cave and spent the night.
10. He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”
11. The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
12. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
13. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
14. He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and put Your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”
*TOPIC:*
DESPAIR.
*THE MESSAGE:*
Despair is an emotional pain often accompanied by hopelessness, helplessness, and loss of meaning. In this text, Elijah is in despair after killing the prophets of Baal. Overwhelmed by challenges and threats, he decides to escape or die. He felt alone in his faith, believing he was the only faithful one. God gently whispers hope, reassures him, providing food and rest to him. He also corrects his view of being alone and reveals that there are 7,000 faithful Israelites. God gives him new tasks and instructions, empowering him to continue his prophetic work. For those of us in despair, learn from Elijah's experience. God is present in your situations. He will carry you through until you complete your divine assignment. Continually recognise His presence and give Him praise.
*REFLECTION:*
Allow God to intervene in your situation.
*PRAYER:*
Lord, I invite you into my situation. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
ROMANS 8:28.
And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose
*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
2 SAMUEL 15-18.

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His strength
Ephesians 6:10
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
1Corinthians 16:13
Why Delay
to be conformed into the image of Jesus?”
Pit of the Wicked
His delays are not only for His glory and my eternal benefit, but His delays are ALSO designed to entrap the enemy in his own snare: For the LORD will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance: but during their days of His children’s adversity a pit is dug for the wicked. Psalm 94:14 – and who is it that digs this pit for the wicked? THEY DO. The wicked dig their own pit. The wicked think they’re oppressing us and taking advantage of us – yet, God is going to cause them to fall into the pit they are digging for you and me.
Threefold Cord
Remember the threefold cord that the Lord has attached to His dear one’s delays. FIRST) He uses delay to glorify His name for He is great and highly to be praised, SECOND) He uses delay to confound and punish the enemy. THIRD) He even uses delay to test and strengthen our faith in Him, and He will use delay in our lives to the point of exhaustion. Yes, He uses His delays to correct us, train us, to perfect us, and hone us. He uses His delays in our lives until we are conformed into His image and He uses delay for our eternal advantage and our own glorious benefit!
Trust His Delays
But He does it in His own way and He does it in His own time. We are simply required to trust His decision and to have faith in His delays. This is not a call to give up the fight; to give up in submission but to advance in the army of the King, this is the time to trust Him, to be brave and to be strong: knowing that our enemy as a roaring lion.. walks about, seeking who he may devour. 1Peter 5:8 We are called trust in Him knowing: that the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
“Watch, stand fast in the faith. Act like men. Be brave. Be bold. Be strong in the LORD”

i. Evening Prayer
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to Raymond Stephen the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ⏤ 2 Corinthians 4:6
When Christ is in us, we walk in His radiant light, untouched by the shadows. ⏤ D.L. Moody
O God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, shine into our hearts this evening and fill us with Your peace. We thank You for all that this Sunday has brought us — for its quietness, its teaching, its worship, its fellowship with You and with Your people, and for the opportunities of serving You.
We ask that You bless the rest and fellowship we have enjoyed in our home today. May our family life be enriched through the privileges of this day. Help us to make our home a place filled with the sweetness of Heaven.
Bring us closer to You in our personal spiritual lives. May our thoughts of the risen Jesus lift our hearts into a deeper communion with Him. May He be more than ever our personal Friend, dearer to us than anyone else in the world. May we live closer to Jesus from this day forward.
We pray that our Christian lives may grow deeper and holier. May we have more of Jesus in our hearts and be more fully dedicated to Your service. Make us more earnest, more prayerful, and more holy in heart and life. Give us wisdom as we work for You. May we teach others about Your grace and lead souls to You. Let our influence be for good, and may we be more helpful to others.
We ask Your blessing on all the work done for You today. Bless not only the public ministry of Your Word but also the quiet, humble work done in private ways. Give us now Your peace as we close our eyes tonight. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
