Good morning church family
In Book of Zechariah 3, we are given a powerful picture of grace that still speaks to us today.
The high priest Joshua the High Priest is standing before God⦠but heās not alone. Satan is there too accusing him. And Joshua is wearing filthy garments, representing sin and guilt.
But watch what God does
God rebukes the accuser
God removes the filthy garments
God clothes him in clean garments
āSee, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.ā (v4)
This is the Gospel in a vision.
1. The enemy accuses, but God defends
Satan will always try to remind you of your past, your failures, your weaknesses.
But God doesnāt agree with the accusation, He silences it.
You are not defined by what you did.
You are defined by what God says about you.
2. God doesnāt just forgive, He restores
Joshua wasnāt just cleaned⦠he was re-clothed with honor.
God doesnāt just remove sin, He gives you a new identity.
He lifts you from shame and places dignity on your life.
3. You are called to walk in obedience
God gives Joshua a charge:
āIf you will walk in My ways and keep My requirementsā¦ā (v7)
Grace is not an excuse to stay the same, itās the power to live differently.
4. Jesus is our righteousness God speaks of āMy servant, the Branchā (v8) a prophecy pointing to Jesus Christ.
Through Jesus:
* Our sin is removed
* Our identity is restored
* Our future is secured
āI will remove the sin of this land in a single day.ā (v9)
That day was the cross.
Final Encouragement.
Family, some of us are standing like Joshua, feeling unworthy, ashamed, or accused.
But today, God is saying:
āI have chosen you.ā
āI have cleansed you.ā
āI have clothed you in righteousness.ā
Donāt listen to the voice of accusation, listen to the voice of grace.
Walk in it. Live in it. Believe it.
You are no longer condemned, you are covered.
