TODAY'S MESSAGE
SERMON TITLE:
“GOOD FRIDAY: THE POWER OF SACRIFICE, REDEMPTION, AND HOPE”**
Text:
Isaiah 53:5 – “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities…”
John 19:30 – “It is finished.”
Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us…”
INTRODUCTION
Good Friday is not just a day—it is a divine transaction.
It is the day when:
Heaven gave its best,
Humanity showed its worst,
And love paid the full price.
What looked like defeat was actually destiny being fulfilled.
Many see pain—but God sees purpose.
Many see death—but God sees redemption.
1. THE SACRIFICE – LOVE THAT PAID THE PRICE
Scripture:
Isaiah 53:7 – “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth…”
John 15:13 – “Greater love has no one than this…”
Jesus did not die accidentally—He died intentionally.
He was betrayed, yet remained silent
He was beaten, yet did not resist
He was crucified, yet still forgave
Luke 23:34 – “Father, forgive them…”
This is sacrifice:
Giving up your right so others can be made right.
Life Application:
Sacrifice is when you forgive those who hurt you
Sacrifice is when you choose righteousness over comfort
Sacrifice is when you serve God even when it costs you.
Truth:
No sacrifice, no transformation.
2. THE REDEMPTION – THE PRICE THAT SET US FREE
Scripture:
Ephesians 1:7 – “In Him we have redemption through His blood…”
Colossians 2:14 – “Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements…”
When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He was not giving up—He was declaring victory.
That statement meant:
Your sins are paid for
Your debt is cancelled
Your past is erased
Redemption means: You are no longer who you used to be.
Case Study: A man bound by addiction attends a Good Friday service.
He hears that Jesus already paid for his freedom—and that revelation breaks his chains.
Truth:
You don’t fight for victory—you fight from victory.
3. THE HOPE – LIGHT AFTER DARKNESS
Scripture:
Psalm 30:5 – “Weeping may endure for a night…”
John 16:33 – “In the world you will have tribulation…"
Good Friday looks like the end—but it is actually the beginning.
The cross was painful—but it was purposeful
The grave was real—but it was temporary
Friday brings sorrow…
But Sunday brings resurrection.
Life Application:
Your current struggle is not your final chapter
Your pain has a purpose
Your story is not over
Truth:
If God can turn a cross into salvation, He can turn your situation into a testimony.
4. THE CALL – LIVE THE MESSAGE OF GOOD FRIDAY
Good Friday is not just to be remembered—it is to be lived.
Scripture:
Luke 9:23 – “Take up your cross daily…”
What must you do?
1. Repent – Turn away from sin
2. Receive – Accept the finished work of Christ
3. Reflect – Live a life that shows His sacrifice
4. Reach Out – Become hope to others
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
