Good morning, brethren.

1. Morning devotion for today.

i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2026.
"HE WON! (1)"

‘…He made a public spectacle of them…’ Colossians 2:15 NIV

THE CROSS is universally recognised as symbolising the Christian faith. We’ve all seen baseball players crossing themselves before going to bat…jewellery stores selling gold crosses…and bakers celebrating Easter with hot cross buns. One author says: ‘Christianity has become a religion of the cross - the gallows, the electric chair, the gas chamber, in modern terms. Normally we think of someone who dies a criminal’s death as a failure. Yet Paul would later reflect that “Christ…forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code…that was against us…He took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross”. On one level I think of individuals in our own time who disarmed the powers. Racist sheriffs who imprisoned Martin Luther King Jr.…the Soviets who deported Solzhenitsyn…the authorities who imprisoned Nelson Mandela…all thought they were solving a problem. Instead they ended up unmasking their own violence and injustice…When Jesus died, even a gruff Roman soldier was moved to exclaim, “…This man truly was the Son of God” (Matthew 27:54 NIV)…He saw the contrast between his brutish colleagues and their victim Who forgave them in His dying gasp. The pale figure nailed to a crossbeam revealed the ruling powers as false gods who broke their own lofty promises of piety and justice. Religion, not irreligion, accused Jesus; the law, not lawlessness had him executed. By their rigged trials…scourging…and violent opposition to Jesus, the political and religious authorities exposed themselves for what they were…Each assault…laid bare their illegitimacy, yet in the end - He won!’

ii. GOD WANTS TO PROVIDE ABUNDANTLY

"God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." - 2 Corinthians 9:8

This promise starts with: 'God is able to bless you abundantly.' So, God does not only want to provide what we need, no, abundant means more than we need. Ephesians 3:20 says: 'To Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.'

God wants to give us an abundance of strength, joy, peace, encouragement, wisdom, etc. God wants to provide everything we need, it was never His intention for us to live in poverty.

More than enough

With this promise, we are able to rise above our weaknesses through the power of the Holy Spirit. We always have more than enough in every circumstance.

In other words: when the struggle increases, so does God's power. As sin increases, God's grace increases too. When the burdens become heavier, God's power increases in us so we are able to bear them.

There is one condition to God's promises. Colossians 3:23 says: 'Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.' For example, give with all your heart, because God loves when you give with a happy heart.

2 Corinthians 9:6 says: 'Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.'

If you give your offering and think: 'it would be better if I kept it for myself', then it would seem to God as if He is forcing you.

Proverbs 11:24 says: 'One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.'

The more effort we put into the work of the Lord, the more God will give back to us!

2. Morning Prayer for today.

i. Morning Prayer

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. ⏤ Colossians 3:17

There is no wonder more supernatural and divine in the life of a believer than the mystery and ministry of prayer. ⏤ A.W. Tozer

God, as we start another workweek, we ask for Your blessing. Help us carry the rest and lessons of Sunday with us as we face the busy days ahead. Even if we’re too busy for quiet reflection, may the memories of Sunday inspire us throughout the day. Let the songs and prayers of yesterday keep lifting our hearts as we work.

Help us live out what we learned yesterday in our everyday lives. We want our faith to be real in everything we do. We’ve caught glimpses of Your beauty, and now we want that beauty to shine through us. We’ve read Your commandments, and we want to follow them so that our lives reflect Your goodness.

But it’s not always easy to do what’s right. We make good resolutions on Sunday, but during the week, it’s easy to forget them and fall back into old habits. We need more of Your grace to help us stay faithful and do our best. Our spirit is willing, but we often struggle to follow through. Strengthen us, God, so we can keep our promises and live out our intentions to obey and serve You.

Let the spirit of Sunday carry into our week, making it bright with love, truth, and goodness. Help us not to fail in our work, our duties, or our challenges. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
