Remember the song “This Land is Your Land”? That came to my remembrance after seeing this bus shelter sign. When I first heard the Woody Guthrie song sung during music class in elementary school, I thought we were singing about a lamb. While I concur that we should be compassionate towards animals and responsibly manage our planet’s natural resources, they are not as valuable as human beings. It was for them a Lamb was “slain before the foundation of the world.” (Revelation 13:8)
