As an evangelist, I recognize some Christians have more of a pastoral calling or teaching gift. Still, it’s annoying when brethren try to give me advice regarding follow-up but do little (if any) witnessing themselves. Jesus said in Luke 15:10, “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” It doesn’t say the angels rejoice when people walk into your church. If someone is more enthusiastic about writing down a new believer’s phone number than their name written in the Book of Life, you have to question whether they are seeking to establish their own kingdom rather than God’s. “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.” (Psalm 127:1)
