God’s Hand in the Storm

Just when I thought the pain couldn’t get any deeper, a new storm arrived. One day, visitors came to my house—officials from the Bureau of Internal Revenue, accompanied by a lawyer and staff. They told me someone had filed a criminal complaint against me for issuing temporary receipts in our business.

My heart sank as I looked at the documents. I realized the receipts had been signed by my secretary, a move that violated the law here in the Philippines. If this wasn't resolved, I could face imprisonment. I listened to them, my mind racing with fear, but somehow, I managed to stay calm and composed while they were there.

The moment the door closed behind them, I broke down. Tears flowed freely as I looked up to heaven and cried out, "Lord, when will these trials end? How much more do I have to bear?"

The next day, I gathered what little strength I had and went to the Regional Director’s office. I had no money to pay for penalties or bribes. All I carried in my hands and heart was prayer and my faith in Jesus.

As I entered the room, a kind person approached me. With a trembling voice, I told her the whole truth—how I had lost everything, how I was being targeted, and how I had no means to pay. She listened with compassion and went to speak to the Director on my behalf.

When the Director called me in, I poured out my story honestly before her. Suddenly, the phone rang. The Director answered it right in front of me. To my shock, I realized the person on the line was the very one who filed the case against me!

I listened as the Director spoke firmly, "Stop bullying her. She has already paid her dues, so stop pestering her." Then she ended the call.

I recognized that voice instantly. It was my business rival. Anger rose inside me, and I wanted to fight back, to make her pay. But the Director looked at me and said words that touched my soul:

"Promise me you will not take revenge. Just move outside the province, start a new life, and let God be the one to repay what is due. As long as I am here, I promise you, no one can touch you again."

I left the office with a lightness in my chest I hadn't felt in years. I went there with nothing but prayers and faith, and God did the impossible. He sent His angels in uniform to fight my battles. Truly, when I am weak, He is strong.
