📘 Daily Devotion — April 24 | Mark 5:36 (NKJV) 💯 Faith in the Face of Fear Mark chapter 5 tells the story of Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue whose young daughter was dying. Desperate for help, Jairus came to Jesus and pleaded with Him to come and heal her. Jesus agreed and began traveling with him toward his home. While they were on the way, messengers arrived with devastating news. Jairus’ daughter had died, and they told him not to trouble the Teacher any longer. In that moment, hope could have easily turned into despair. But Jesus immediately spoke to Jairus and said Do not be afraid only believe. These words reveal the heart of faith. Fear focuses on circumstances, while faith focuses on the power of God. Jesus was calling Jairus to trust Him even when the situation seemed beyond hope. Soon after, Jesus entered the house, took the girl by the hand, and restored her life. What appeared impossible was completely within the authority of Christ. For believers today this verse reminds us that fear often arises when circumstances seem overwhelming or final. Yet Jesus calls His followers to trust Him beyond what they can see. Faith does not deny the reality of the situation, but it places confidence in the power and goodness of God. When fear tries to dominate the heart, the voice of Jesus still speaks the same truth Do not be afraid only believe. Reflection Questions 1. What situation in my life is currently causing fear or anxiety 2. How can I choose faith in God’s power instead of focusing on circumstances 3. What promises of God strengthen my confidence during uncertainty Prayer Lord Jesus help me to trust You when fear tries to take control of my thoughts.
