The Gentle Pull of His Hand

That Sunday morning, as we walked into the church, warmth embraced us immediately. The brethren greeted us with such joy and love, as if we had been family to them for a lifetime.

After the service, an elder came to us with eyes full of hope. "We have been searching for a shepherd for so long," he said gently. "Would you consider staying here to serve us?"

My heart trembled. I simply answered, "If this is truly the will of God, then why not?"

They offered us a home to live in, with all utilities provided, and the support of the church. We told them we needed time to pray and think.

When we arrived home and sat together, memories flooded my mind like a heavy rain. I remembered clearly, two years ago, they had invited us to serve in that very same place. Back then, proud and comfortable, I told them, "I can serve God right here where I am."

In that quiet moment, the truth broke my heart. God was calling us even then, but we refused. We loved our comfort zone too much to leave it. And so, God had to gently take away everything—the businesses, the career, the properties—not to destroy us, but to loosen our hands so we could finally follow Him.

I looked at my husband, tears in my eyes, and said, "Let us accept this. This time, I will obey. I have learned the hard way what happens when we say no to God. I do not want to resist His will anymore. If this is where He wants us, then here we will stay."
