Good morning, brethren.

1. Morning devotion for today.

Di. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. SUNDAY APRIL 26, 2026.

"KEEP PRAYING AND BELIEVING."

'Teaching them more about prayer, he used…story…’  Luke 11:5 NLT

YOUR NEED moves God’s heart, but your faith moves Him to action. So keep praying and believing. Jesus gives us two illustrations of this: 1) ‘…Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves…he calls out from his bedroom, “Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and [we] are all in bed. I can’t help you.” But I tell you this - though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.’ (Luke 11:5-8 NLT). Why will God answer your prayer? To protect His reputation as One who makes covenants and keeps them. 2) ‘There was a judge in a certain city… A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, “Give me justice”…The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said… “I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!” Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly!”…’ (Luke 18:2-8 NLT). Bottom line: the God you serve is just, compassionate, able and willing to meet your needs, so keep praying and believing.

Dii. JESUS WILL COME BACK UNEXPECTEDLY

"This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven." - Acts 1:11

The world is in conflict, but there is hope!

Did you know that we are able to read a lot in the Bible about the time in which we live today? We read about the past, about today and also about the future. And this is exactly what I want to talk about.

Our vision of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ is very important. The way we think about the Second Coming determines whether we understand our role as a Christian today.

The Bible says that:

Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God the Father on the throne and He reigns;

one day He will judge all the dead and the living;

this Jesus will come back the same way as He ascended from the earth to heaven.

He will not come like a baby as He did 2000 years ago. At the age of 33, He died on a rough wooden cross and rose three days later. After that He appeared to many people and went to heaven carried away by a cloud. When Jesus returns, He will come in glory as the supreme King and Lord.

There are pastors, priests and theologians who do not believe in the physical return of Christ. There are others who constantly try to figure out the exact time of Jesus' return.

Jesus did not instruct us to speculate about this. After all, the Bible says in Matthew 24:36: 'But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.'

One day God will give His Son a sign to go to earth and gather us to be with Him forever! We are often warned not to fall asleep. 'So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him' (Matthew 24:44). Are you awaken and ready?

Pi. Morning Prayer

Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⏤ 1 Peter 1:3

The resurrection of Jesus changes the face of death for all His people. Death is no longer a prison, but a passage into God's presence. ⏤ John Piper

Our hearts are glad this morning, our Father, as we welcome this new Sunday. Everything within us rejoices and praises You. May our lives rise from the shadows of death into beauty and blessedness.

We thank You for all that the resurrection of Jesus means to us: that death could not hold Him, that He lives now to intercede for us in Heaven, and also to be our Friend and Companion in this world. May the gifts of His grace be poured out upon us. May the Holy Spirit fill our hearts and enrich our lives.

Prepare us for the work and worship of this day. Bless the words we have read from Your holy word. May they become in us divine inspirations, kindling holy thoughts, pure desires, aspirations after holiness, and a love that will make our lives like altars of incense before You.

Bless our home life on this day of rest. Draw us closer together as a family. May our love become deeper, more tender, and more unselfish as we join in worship. May Your blessing rest upon those who preach Your word and upon all who gather for worship. We pray especially for those who carry Your word to those in need. May they have Your power, and may their ministries be blessed.

We give ourselves to You for this day. We desire to make it a day unstained by sinful thoughts or words, a day for receiving new measures of the Holy Spirit, a day for coming very close to Jesus, a day for giving out blessings to others. Forgive us all our sins. Cleanse and purify our lives. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

1. Evening devotion for today.

i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
SATURDAY 25TH APRIL, 2026.

*SUB-THEME:*
THE CROSS: CULMINATION OF GRACE.

*TOPIC:*
NEW IDENTITY.

*TEXT:*
GALATIANS 2:19-21.
19 For through the Law I died to the Law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with the Messiah. Rom 7:4 Rom 14:7 2Co 5:15 1Th 5:10 Heb 9:14 1Pe 4:2
20 I no longer live, but the Messiah lives in me, and the life that I am now living in this body I live by the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Gal 1:4 Eph 5:2 Tit 2:14 [Rom 6:6] [Rom 6:13] [Rom 14:7] [1Co 1:9] [2Co 5:15] [Gal 5:24] [1Th 5:10] [Heb 9:14] [1Pe 4:2]
21 I do not misapply God’s grace, for if righteousness comes about by doing what the Law requires, then the Messiah died for nothing. Heb 7:11.

*TOPIC:*
NEW IDENTITY.

*THE MESSAGE:*
To have a new identity means becoming an entirely different person from what one used to be. This text explains that a believer dies to the law and lives for God. His life has been crucified with Christ. So, sin no longer governs him because of his new identity. This grace prompts the believer to live a life of faith continually. His past cannot define him because of his new identity. Unfortunately, some believers claim a new identity, but their character denies it. For example, some patronise beer parlours, brothels, and witch doctors and support lawless acts in church and society. It ought not to be so. Remember that He who died to sin must not live in it any longer (Rom. 6:1-2).

*REFLECTION:*
Embrace your identity.

*PRAYER:*
Father, that Christ should live His life through me. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
COLOSSIANS 2:15.
"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
2 CHRONICLES 17-20.

I write unto you, my little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
1 John 2:12

Deep Grace

What a depth of love the Lord had for all His own. How deep the love of the Father.. and John the apostle in his twilight years was submerged in love for His Lord, for he had dwelt on His gracious words, for no man spoke like this Man: “love as I loved; trust as little children; forgive as your Father has forgiven you”.

Deep Love

John had experienced the love and forgiveness of Christ in His own turbulent life, for this son of thunder who thought to strike others with fire and brimstone.. now seeks to smite them with Christ’s forgiveness and the love of Jesus.. for his own dirty feet had been washed, in love, by the gracious Son of God.

Deep Forgiveness

This beloved disciple had seen forgiveness flow at Calvary as Christ implored: “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. This devoted follower had witnessed words of forgiveness to the burly fisherman: “feed my lambs, feed my sheep” – feed my precious, little children. This ageing apostle longed for others to know the blessings of Christ’s forgiveness. This prophet of God ached that others be washed in the blood of the Lamb.

Wrath of God

John knew these children were sinners, both in practice and by nature. He knew the blessings of forgiveness and grace of God were freely open to all, but he also knew the only sacrifice for sin rested on the spilt blood of the Lord Jesus. John knew He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities – for the wrath of God was poured out on Christ to pay that price for all sin.

Blood of Christ

God’s forgiveness was for HIS sake – for Christ’s sake; for the sake of His Son – it was not for the sake of man’s merit or man’s work, but for His name’s sake. His blood alone could pay the price for sin; all sin; every sin; secret sins; open sins. His sacrifice alone could atone for sins committed and man’s inherent sin nature. He alone could pay the price for sin : past sin; present sin; future sin. He alone could atone for sin : sins of the body and sins of the mind – big sins; little sins; original sin, actual sin; every sin; all sin.

His Names Sake

Christ’s blood was shed for the remission of sin. His death alone could satisfy the wrath of a holy God for the sin of the world – and your sins are forgiven you, for His name’s sake. What a depth of love the Lord had for His own. How deep the love of the Father. And John the apostle in his twilight years was submerged in love for His Lord. John drank deeply of the love and forgiveness of His Jesus, and so we read: I write unto you, my little children, because your sins are forgiven you – for HIS name’s sake.

2. Evening Prayer for today.

i. Evening Prayer

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? ⏤ Psalm 8:3-4

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world. ⏤ C.S. Lewis

We thank You, our Father, for the wonders of the universe that night reveals. We couldn't see the stars while it was day; they were hidden in the brightness of the light. But when the sun went down, all these glories appeared. All these are Your works, O God. It comforts us to remember that our Father made all these marvelous things. Surely You are able to take care of us, Your little children.

We also thank You for the blessings that other nights reveal. You have a thousand comforts in Your love that we don't see while the sun of prosperity shines. It's only when we have some trouble that we begin to understand the meaning of Your promises. It's only when we lose human friends that we find You as the Friend of friends. It's only when we lose earthly treasures that we begin to value the invisible treasures of Your grace. So we thank You for every loss that has revealed a gain and a blessing. We thank You for every sorrow that has made You more real to us. We thank You for the hard paths that have made us trust more fully in You. We thank You for the darkening of day that has brought out the stars of hope in our night. Help us always to believe that when You take away one blessing, You give us another that is even better.

We ask now that You will make all this day's experiences work for our good. Bless us as a family, and give each of us a personal blessing. Hold us in the arms of Your love while we sleep, and let no evil befall us. Shelter all our loved ones and hear their prayers. Bring us all home at last, through Your love, to the sinless world with You, for Jesus' sake. Amen.
