UNDERSTANDING THE POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS
TEXT: ACTS 4:12;
Introduction
Every believer should know that we have been sent by Jesus to continue to propagate the kingdom in and with The Name of Jesus Christ. Whatever we do, we do it in The Name of The One who sent us - Jesus Christ. Faith in His Name is a fundamental key to doing exploits for God.
What Jesus Christ taught about His Name:
1. Jesus Christ and His Name are one. Mat 18:5; Mat 18:20;
2. These signs will follow those who believe in His Name. Mark 16:17-18;
a. They shall cast out devils
b. They shall speak with new tongues
c. They shall take up serpents
d. They shall drink deadly thing without harm
e. They shall lay hands on the sick and heal them
3. If we ask anything in His Name, He will do it. John 14:13-14;
4. If we ask The Father anything in Jesus Name, The Father will do it. John 15:16; John 16:23-26;
5. Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name. Luke 24:46-48; Mat 28:19;
In summary, Jesus Christ gave power of attorney i.e power to act on His behalf!
What the disciples knew and believed about The Name of Jesus
1. That there is life ( salvation, forgiveness of sins…) in His Name John 1:12; John 20:31; Acts 2:38; Acts 4:12; 1Cor 6:11; 1John 5:13;
2. The Name of Jesus Christ carries the highest authority. By conquest Eph 1:20-23; by divine conferment Phil 2:9-11; by inheritance Heb 1:4;
3. There are healings and miracles in His Name. Acts 3:6; Acts 3:16; Acts 4:7-10; Acts 4:30; Acts 9:33-34;
4. Devils are subject to us in The Name of Jesus Christ. Luke 10:17; Acts 16:18; Phil 2:9-10;
5. The Name of Jesus Christ is worth suffering and dying for. Acts 4:18-20; Acts 5:40-42; Acts 15:26; Acts 21:13;
Conclusion
Believe in The Name of Jesus Christ for yourself and for your service to God. His Name will do whatever He will do if He was physically here. We shall do in His Name whatever He would do if He was physically here.
Don't forget that these things are possible to everyone of us if we believe we can. It requires for us to understand that He can fully back His Word and we can fully trust Him that He will do it.
