THE CALL TO GOD’S PRESENCE
Main Text: Psalm 24:3–4
“Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart…”
1. INTRODUCTION:
Beloved, this is not just a question—it is a divine requirement.
Who can come close to God?
Who can live in His presence?
Who can carry His glory?
The answer is clear:
* Not the talented * Not the religious * Not the outwardly successful
But: Those with clean hands and a pure heart.
2. WHAT ARE “CLEAN HANDS”? (OUTWARD LIFE)
“Clean hands” speaks about:
* Our actions. * Our behavior/Attitude * Our daily conduct
Isaiah 1:15–16
“Your hands are full of blood… Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean…”
James 4:8
“Draw near to God… Cleanse your hands, you sinners…”
Meaning:
Clean hands mean: No hidden sin in actions, No injustice or wrongdoing,
No corruption, cheating, or harm to others
+ It is about what you do.
Ask yourself:
Are my actions pleasing to God?
Is my lifestyle clean before Him?
3. WHAT IS A “PURE HEART”? (INWARD LIFE)
A pure heart is deeper than behavior.
+ It is about:
- Thoughts, Motives, Intentions
Matthew 5:8
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
Jeremiah 17:10
“I the Lord search the heart…”
Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God…”
+ A pure heart means:
- No double-mindedness
- No hidden motives
-;No hypocrisy
It is All about who you are inside. / The real you.
4. GOD LOOKS AT BOTH – NOT ONE
Many people try to:
Look clean outside
But remain dirty inside
God rejects that.
1 Samuel 16:7
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Matthew 23:27
“Whitewashed tombs… outwardly beautiful, but inside full of dead bones.”
+ God demands:
Clean hands AND a pure heart.
5. THE DANGER OF UNCLEAN HANDS AND IMPURE HEART
Spiritual Consequences:
1. Blocked prayers
Psalm 66:18
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.”
2. Distance from God
Isaiah 59:2
“Your sins have separated you from your God.”
3. Loss of spiritual authority
No power, no anointing, no clarity
6. HOW TO GET CLEAN HANDS AND A PURE HEART
This is the most important part.
Step 1: REPENTANCE
Acts 3:19
“Repent… that your sins may be blotted out.”
+ True repentance is:
- Turning away from sin
- Not just feeling sorry
Step 2: CONFESSION
1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful… to cleanse us…”
+/ Bring everything into the light.
Step 3: THE WORD OF GOD

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.”
+ The Word washes and corrects us.
Step 4: THE BLOOD OF JESUS
Hebrews 9:14
“The blood of Christ… cleanses your conscience…”
+ Only Jesus can purify the heart completely.
Step 5: WALK IN THE SPIRIT
Galatians 5:16
“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
+ Daily dependence on God is essential.
7. THE RESULT: ACCESS TO GOD’S PRESENCE
When your hands are clean and your heart is pure:
You will:
1. Enter God’s presence boldly
2. Hear His voice clearly
3. Carry His glory
4. Experience spiritual authority
